For the last couple of weeks I have been waking sometimes in the night quite tight chested. So much so I have had to go find my Ventolin and have a few puffs. Seems to be about 4 in the morning. I have not had asthma in about a year or so???
Has anyone else had any flare ups with asthma while pregnant..Do you use your puffers?
I have not rung the midwife about it but I am assuming Puffers are okay!!

well I use my ventolin all the time, have done for my whole life, and yes it is fine that is the first thing I had to check with my doctor when i found out I was pregnant.
My doctor said that in 30% of women their asthma will stay the same during pregnancy, in 30% it will get worse and in 30% it will get better - mine has stayed the same but it was always a daily thing with me so gettign worse wasnt really an option...
I am sure it is fine, but if it is troubling you a lot maybe consult your doctor - they may decide to put you on a preventer such as flixotide which is also safe during pregnancy, my midwife said that any asthma problems should go to my doctor not her as it is a medical problem not a pregnancy-related problem...good luck!

I have had moderate to severe asthma all my life but dyuring both pregnancies, it disappeared completely. Back again now after four months though a lot less severe. Ventolin is perfectly fine. If you can't get enough air, neither can baby, so it is necessary for you to take it. I would go to the doctor and look at a decent preventer though.
I also read that girls tend to make asthma worse while boys help it. worked for me?!!!

yeah my asthma has been a little worse and I had to switch preventor medication because the one I had made me dry retch. 
If you're worried just have a chat to your midwife or doctor but sounds pretty normal to me.

Yep my childhood asthma seems to be making a comeback since about a week ago... I had been tossing up whether or not it was bad enough for an inhaler but after thinking about bubs not getting enough air if I'm not, I'll be off to the GP.

i've had asthma all my life also, i'm on flixotide and ventolin. it got worse when i was preggy with jack, was on the nebuliser a couple of times and this time is a little better but i still use my ventolin mostly once a day.
i would see the doc about getting a preventitive inhaler to help.

I have very mild asthma now(reduced since I moved to NZ). I've felt a little wheezy and use my ventolin inhaler only if I have to. My Midwife said that you should not go without if you need it as this would cause more of an issue to the baby than actually taking it.
Now I can feel bubs pushing up on my diaphram (sp?) so breathing gets a bit of an issue occassionally, but I don't think that is asthma related - just one of those things

Yep i have asthma probs and take my inhaler i checked with the pharmacist and its perfectly fine to use, its better that you can breathe so ur baby can breathe than to not

I've had asthma all my life and thankfully haven't had any problems since I've been pregnant which is great! I wonder how long it will be gone for?

Yep, mine got worse with pregnancy and ventolin is fine. A doctor was telling me that they used to use it in the UK aeons ago in the dark medical ages of the sixties and seventies to delay premature labour.
