Nah, double spaced between the lines..

Go to Format then paragraph (in the toolbars in word) and it has an option for line spacing

Nope, it means line spacing. If you are using work, click format>paragraph then select line spacing and choose double.

oh right. I just thought it was between the words because it said "make sure your essay is double spaced and a minimum of 1.5 line spacing"
Shesh! what a stupid question that was!!!

When you say that it makes me think that yes you do have to have double spacing between the words, but that would look really silly. Is that paper a WebCT paper, maybe ask on there.

no its not a webCT paper.
It is really badly worded! but then my mind is a little boggled right now so thought i was just being cabbage!
Id say now that it probably means in between the lines.
I cant remember whether i got that out of my Admin handbork or off the massey website.
My mum thought the double word spacing sounded odd and so did i but as i havnt written an essay since high school and definately not a scholarly one at that! i had no idea! it was so much easier doing exams and building miniture houses

Just to throw a monkey wrench into the equation... It *might* mean double spacing between paragraphs (meaning, hit return twice after the end of a paragraph) but 1.5 spacing between lines within paragraphs...
Or it *could* mean insert a double space after a full stop between sentences. (At my uni this was the norm, but at the magazines I've worked at it's been single-spacing after full stops...)
Sounds like your lecturer needs to clarify things for you! You poor confuzzled thing.

You would spend more time putting spaces in than typing words!

OMG, my first essay that said this I really did go thru and put an extra space in between every word!!!

I would just use the double spacing function.

an easy way to space lines is to select all your text and press control & 5 to space lines 1.5, and control & 2 for double line spacing. to get it back to single line spacing press control & 1
