Topic: Help! A plate to take to Baby Shower...     Posted: 22 August 2010 at 9:53am |

I have a baby shower to attend this afternoon and everyone has been asked to bring a plate.

Its a pink theme and my idea of pink cupcakes has been done already by the organiser (and she can bake so I am not going up against her LOL)..

Its a 2pm today so I need something not too involved..

I was thinking maybe savouries as most people would take baking given its afternoon tea time but I really cant think of a single thing to make.

I hate when my brain fails me!

So any ideas, sweet or savoury that wont cost me too much would be great appreciated.

I can only think of sweet pink things - coconut ice, candy floss, mini jellies, raspberry soda, marshmellows, fairy bread with pink sprinkles, pink wafer biscuits,

What about saveloys, sandwhiches with smoked salmon or (vacuum packed) ham??

   Coconut ice cake,
I make tuna parcels wrapped in filo - you could substitute salmon to make them pink - i combine tinned salmon/tuna with diced red capsicum and make filo triangles - bake and serve
you can sprinkle the parcels with sesame seeds if you like

You can always do savoury cases, with different fillings. ie: mash potato and chives, tin spaghetti

If you want to make it pink add in some grated beetroot while your cooking the spuds, then they'll be a lovely shade of pink. Not sure anyone will eat them.

Or add tomato that makes things pink too.

You could take cocktail sausages and cook them there, if they are well-cooked you should still be able to eat them?

Otherwise a sally lunn bun from the bakery often has pink icing
