Topic: Dumb question about washable breast pads     Posted: 14 July 2008 at 4:38pm |

I know the answer to this is probably really obvious but is Purelan going to wreck my washable breast pads? I'm thinking that coz lanolin makes things waterproof it might waterproof them which is not what I want! Does anyone know? If so I'll have to use sposie ones till my nipples toughen up a bit and I can stop using the Purelan.

I had washable ones from breastmates and my nipples were slathered in purelan for the first 6 weeks or so.
I didn't have any problems with the absorbancy of them and it all washed off in the machine.

Should be fine, I don't remember having a problem last time round, in fact i've dug them all out and am using them again already.

Each to their own Deb, maybe buy one form each place and see how you go. I am biased to Stacey as I know the fabrics she uses. They are really soft.

I'd personally go for natural fibres. Don't know why... just a little hangup I have!

Wool pads from Breast Mates are apparently very good (not if you react to wool though )
Or a TNN lady makes some and they look yuuuummy - Eden Breast pads

I like the minky Foxybots ones, but I'm finding they stick to my nipples which makes them a bit ouchy to take off.
I've got some Beedezine ones too which seem to stick less but I haven't used them as often yet.
Thanks for the feedback re: purelan, will keep using it!

I used purelan with cotton breast pads from Baby Factory, no sticking, no waterproofing but the yellow marks took a few washes to come out.

I never liked the wool ones, not sure why
However I got some of the Eden ones (did a swap with her before she was running the business) and I LOVE them. Also the Outrageous! breastpads are awesome as well :)

I had wool ones (thought I liked natural fibres best too!) and found them horrible... they leaked all the time, seemd to absorb nothing... even after I washed them lots.  I ended up going for the disposable ones in the end.  I think I would try microfibre ones next time around.

I must say... I only used Tommee Tippee cotton ones that were fricking terrible. As usual just regurgitating information I have heard elsewhere

These are the Breastmates ones I used. They were great, not sticky on my poor shredded nipples and not leaky except for when I had the mad let-down leaking in the early days of feeding. I stuffed a flat nappy in there to cope with that, lol!
