Hi everyone,
Does anyone know of an excellent, well recommended eye surgeon? Our 8 month old has a lazy eye lid. The eye itself is normal and fully functioning, as well as our son reaching all the "normal" milestones so far... He has been seen by a cranial osteopath which has not done any harm, but we don't see any improvements either. Time to get referred onto a surgeon for 'plan B'....
Any suggestions, recommendations would be great thanks...

Hi, our son had a cystic legion on his eye and our Doctor referred us to Waikato Hospital which was going to take 6 months. We ended up getting a private appointment with an eye specialist at Bridgewater Eye Surgery. They were wonderful, but we didn't end up needing the surgery at this point.

Hopefully this will help if you live Central N.I.

Good luck :-)

Hi there, thanks for that. We are in Auckland so something closer would be ideal, although a weekend away could be nice!!! Many thanks.

We got a referral to the eye clinic at greenlane for blocked tear ducts and they were fine. I'd see your GP and ask them, as they should be able to recommend someone private or get you onto the waiting list.

Hi Pip_007!
Our son was referred to Dr Brian Kent-Smith when he was 10 months old for a squint. He has been beyond fantastic, I couldn't recommend him highly enough. Our initial appt with him was a bit blunt and rushed, but they had a massve backlog that day so was trying to clear it. Every other appt has been great, he is clear, to the point, and empathetic. Our son had corrective surgery 2 weeks after his second birthday. I am so glad we did it as it has made all the difference in the world.
Dr Kent-Smith is based in Whangarei, but he may have clinics in Auckland? It could be worth giving him a call and talking to him, even for a referall? Good luck! If you have any questions about our experience feel free to PM me

PS we saw him through the public health system, not through his private clinic.
