I was wondering if anyone else suffers from Rhumatoid Arthritis and if they flared up really badly after having the baby, what medication they took while breast feeding etc.

Yes I have RA.
I have gone into a horrid flare around 3-6 weeks after my last three babies births (I didn't have it before then)..sucks big time.
During pregnancy I just took my regular NSAID (ibuprofen) and stopped during the last trimester. I arranged to see my Rheumy at aroudn 6 weeks post partum and started back on my DMARD (sulphasalazine) plus have periodic shots of depo medrol to get me through rough patches.
I'm in flare at the moment actually and I'm not a happy chick.

Hi,

I was on Naprosyn, Hydroxychloroquine and Sulphasalazane. My Specialist took me off the first two once I became pregnant and I have carried on with the Sulphasalazane. My Specialist in Saudi wants to put me on Prendazone one month before I am due and then carry on with it while I am breastfeeding just in case I have a flare up. She did say that once I took the Prendazone I wouldn't be able to breast feed for 4 hours which I am not that happy with. What happens if the baby wants to feed within 3 hours...I suppose I would have to express milk. I hate taking Prendazone so was just wanting to see if anyone else had any alternatives.

Hope you're flare up has calmed down!
