I used a first response home pregnancy test 3 days before my period was due - though I felt I was pregnant, I got a negative test back. Even 3 days after my period was due, a urine test at a pregnancy centre showed a faint positive, and I was advised to test again in 3 days to see if there was a baby or not. And after hearing of people getting "chemical (false) positives" on some HPTs, my advice would be whatever test you use, try to hold off using it until your period is overdue good 'n' proper.
