2 or more miscarriages??

really need to hear some good luck stories.

had a scan today and found out we've m/c for the second time (in a row) and I was wondering how many others have had 2 or more miscarriages and then gone on to have healthy pregnancies?

Appears we have no problems getting pregnant, just can't get them to stick past the 7 week mark

I'm currently almost 11 weeks pregnant with twins, following on from 3 m/c in 18 months. Everything looked good at the 9w scan, so hopefully the NT scan in 2 weeks shows the same. My problem was more to do with my progesterone levels, and I was on pessaries for the first 4 and a half weeks after finding out about these little ones (plus low dose aspirin).

M/c can be devastating, especially when they keep happening and you don't know why. Unfortunately you can't get referrals for tests until you've had 3 in a row, but fingers crossed you won't get to that stage.

Fingers and toes crossed we don't have another m/c but good to know that if we do, there are tests they can run to help identify and solve any problems.

Just out of interest did you do anything differently (other than what the doctors prescibed) with your healthy pregnancies ??

I was the same for some reason i was just pos with the preg though i was honestly terrified till he was born(though birth was very stresssful due to not breathing!! but was totally fine in the end!)

I had one before him(missed) and one after him so far and just wanted to say i know how you feel.. msg me if you need to talk! my mw will refer after 3 mc not necessarily in a row but hopefully neither of us will need to go through another!

Firstyl I am so sorry to hear about your loss. It doesn't matter how many times you go through this process it never gets easier.

I suffered 2 m/c then went onto have a daughter she dies in utero at 20 weeks.

On a great not, I am currently 32 weeks pregnant.

Don't give up Hun, you always hear about the bad stories but there are so many wonderful stories out there.

I too have 2 m/c in a row (blighted ovum and baby died at 8 weeks). I was absolutely devastated after the second m/c and felt that I couldn't bear the thought of going through a 3rd m/c before being referred to the recurrent m/c clinic in Auckland.

I went to see my GP and she ran a series of routine tests and referred me to a specialist Dr Claire Mclintlock who ran a further series of tests to see if there were any underlying reasons why we were miscarrying. All the tests came back fine and the only thing Claire recommended I do was to cut out drinking coffee as there has been some preliminary research into coffee potentially bringing on m/c.

I did this and I also decided that once I got pregnant again I would take a low dose aspirin every day for the first four months as I had read about some research (which Claire was leading here in NZ) that suggested low dose aspirin maybe useful in avoiding miscarriage.

Three months later I fell pregnant again so I cut out coffee and took the aspirin and so far evrrything has gone perfectly this time and our baby is due in seven weeks.

Whether the avoidance of coffee in the first trimester (I went back to having two cups of weak plunger coffee a week now I am having one a day) had an effect along with the aspirin I don't know. All I do know that like the minike8 said this pregnancy was different from the start and I was so positive about it.

I also had a very supportive GP who I stayed under for the first ten weeks who referred me for regular blood tests to ensure my HCG levels were rising and for early scans to reassure me everything was still ok.

M/C is the worst thing in the world I have ever had to deal with but some good came of it in the end as my relationship with my DF (now my DH) became even stronger and this little man that we are expecting in seven weeks is so loved and wanted it is beyond belief.

So don't give up, stay strong and it will happen for you one day you just have to believe in yourself .

We went private for the initial tests, just because it was faster than waiting for the public health system to kick in. We were supposed to use condoms for the month we were having testing (mainly because if we did get pg, we wouldn't know if there was a reason behind the m/c and therefore couldn't prevent it again), but I was temping so we just didn't really BD around Ov. The cost for our private appts was around $180 each time, which included all the blood tests, and a scan at $180 as well. We got pg on the cycle after the tests were completed, which was the 3rd cycle since our last m/c.

I only had 2 periods in between my last m/c and getting pregnant with this baby, we pretty much avoided BD during the first ovulation time as I really wanted to give my body a rest as we are really lucky in that respect and don't seem to have a problem getting pregnant.

After my second period we were actually on our honeymoon and we managed to get pregnant on that cycle which means we are literally having a "honeymoon baby".

As hard and bloody awful as my prev two m/c were I now have the attitude what is meant to be is meant to be and maybe my body was just getting into "practice" for this pregnancy as it has been a dream pregnancy and I have felt so different to how I did in the preivous two.

It seems there is no math to it and that everyone is different. I guess I can't really understand the reasons to wait to TTC cause it seems it not actually more likely its just that some people will have more than one mc in a row, but it can happen at anytime. I guess I see it as always being a risk, but there is always a chance for a beautiful baby to enter into the world as well. Just holding onto the hope that I'll get the second of the two...and soon! :)

I have a son who is 2. I have had 2 natural MC this year (both at 6 weeks). After the first MC we fell preg again the very next cycle. After the second MC we decided to take a month off, & we fell preg again the next month when we started TTC again. I am 6 weeks preg tomorrow.....

I am really hoping this is the sticky one. I am much sicker than I was the first two times, which is hopefully a good sign. I haven't had any blood tests to check my Hcg is rising, but I have scan booked for next week. Fingers crossed there's a heartbeat this time... My midwife says once you see a heart beat there's a 90% chance everything will be sweet. Oh I hope so because I could do without ANOTHER MC.
