I have one, not a cake recipe but muffins...

Sticky Date Muffins

200gms chopped dates
2/3 cup brown sugar
125gms butter, chopped
1 tsp bicarb of soda
1 & 1/2 cups self-raising flour
1/2 cup plain flour
1/4 tsp mixed spice
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla

Topping
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cream

Preheat oven to moderately hot 200 deg. Prepare muffin tin.

Put dates, sugar, butter and 1 cup water in a small saucepan and stir over medium heat until the butter has melted and sugar has dissolved. Bring to the boil, then remove from the heat and stir in the bicarb of soda.
Sift flours and mixed spice into a bowl and make a well in the centre.
Whisk together the eggs and vanilla in a jug and pour into the well. Add the cooled date mixture.
Fold gently with a metal spoon until just combined. Don't over-mix, the batter should be lumpy.
Fill muffin tin holes to 3/4 full. Bake for 20mins, or until the muffins are risen & golden brown.

Topping
Place the sugar and cream in a small saucepan and stir over medium heat until smooth and sugar has dissolved. Brush the hot sauce generously over the tops of the muffins as soon as they come out of the oven . Brush again until all the sauce has been used. Leave in the tin for 15mins, then gently loosen each muffin and lift onto wire rack. Serve at room temperature...

Yummo
