hello. I am new to this site but would love to chat to different people and hear about their experiences with infertility. I am 31 years old and my partner is 29 and we have been together for 10 years and had decided to wait to start our family. Unfortunately after many specialist appointments I was told when I was 28 I had POF. Our only chance of having a family is to find a special someone to be our donor. We have done some advertising but are wondering if anyone has any other ideas for ways to finding a donor? Eg: place to advertise other than newspaper. Any help or advice will be wonderful!!

Hi. I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you on egg donors, but wanted to say hang in there and good luck. The forums have really helped me with our journey, over 2 years TTC, and just undergoing our 4th round of treatment with injectibles this time, hoping this time will do it.

Its a hard journey and can sometimes be a very lonely journey, but all the girls on here understand how hard it is and can help you, even if it is just someone to listen.

Stay strong and I hope you find that special person to be your donor. I am guessing you have gone through FA etc?
After 2 1/2 years of treatment and IVF my heart was ripped out again when Jeremy was born sleeping at 21 weeks.

Hi. Have you signed up to NZ-surrogacy.com? There are some amazing women on that site who are looking to be egg donors, and also many women who will be able to relate to what you are going through. We've been searching for a sperm donor, and one suggestion from the clinic was to advertise in either the Family Times, or one of those free family type newspapers/magazines that seem to be distributed by schools around the time of the school holidays.
Best of luck for your search

Hi :) Gosh I read your story and it sounded so similar to my own. We started TTC when I was 28 and after a year of no luck we made an appointment at FA and got all the standard tests done not expecting anything to be wrong but I was completely floored to be told I had severely diminished ovarian reserve at 29 years old. I am ovulating and getting AF every month so I really didn't expect that news. I was wondering though as to whether you have given IVF with your own eggs a shot or if you have been told this is not an option for you?

We are giving it all we've got this year with IVF and if that doesn't work, will start looking into donor eggs so I would be very interested to hear about how to even begin this process.

It's a very lonely feeling to be facing this kind of issue at such a young age. Stay strong hun and all the very best in your search.

Hi - we had great succes with an egg donor through basically advertising to anyone we knew as well as in the paper - the person who became our egg donor wasn't someone we knew directly but involved with someone we did know. We are now looking for another egg donor and have again asked all our friends and anyone we loosley know -we've just put oursekves out there on all sorts of forums including NZ surrogacy, aussie egg donors, oh baby, huggies - anywhere you can think of. We have someone who wants to be a donor but she is almost 40 so it's unlilely that will work so we have now decided to cut to the chase and got to the sand diego fertility center - not sure if you are aware or not but in the states you basically look at a catalogue of people and history and pick and chose but you pay through the nose for it - about $40k. Anyhow we have decided people buy cars and boats for that amount and to extend our mortgage as we want a big family. The great thing about the states is your donors are all in the early to mid 20's so you tend to get a lots of eggs, you get all the records of their previous egg donor cycles including numbers of eggs, fertilised embryos spregnancy rates - it's all so different from here. Anyhow, we're just starting that journey as we don't have years up our sleeve to play around wit. Good luck on your journey

Hi, read this and so sorry for your struggle as a lot also been through.

Just wondering though , how does this work when using a over seas donor? As sounds very complicated.

When a person uses a over seas donor, and though there my be many more donors yes in USA , but is it the same agreement as NZ? when you still have to go through a type of Adoption thing for others eggs nowadays.?

Just asking, as do hope what ever way you choose hope you don't find your self in any unforeseen legal stressful situation, as these things already are, if dealing with donors over seas, If you go through this, would your own GP / Gyne Doc work in with Doc you use over seas?

I remember seeing a   interesting Doco on TV. Do hope you may be able to find say others in NZ that have already been over to USA, for this treatment, as good to get first hand info from people that have been there done that as to say. :)

Also did you know, one can now Adopt a embryo in NZ for $2000/ $3000 cost of this Medical procedure. Have you asked NZ fertility for this procedure?

Either way, you may no doubt know all what I have said and tried the embryo Adoption in NZ?, I don't know, feel for you and wish you all the Very best.
