Topic: Growth Scan weigh vs birth weight Posted: 09 December 2009 at 8:59pm |
So I am curious - I have had 2 grwoth scans in 2 seperate pregnancies..
First was at 35.2 weeks and he was 7lb then - born at 39 weeks 9lb 4oz (so 11 oz per week on adverage)
This one is measuring 6lb at 35.3 weeks and well I dont know when she will arrive
So wondering what was your growth scan weigh to your actually baby born weigh?
Hope that makes sense!

I had growth scans fortnightly from 32 weeks with DS due to IUGR (he came right though). His last one at 40w was 3.4kg and was born at 40+3 at 3.48kg, so pretty accurate. Apparently it can depend on how tall they are as to how accurate the measurement is, plus how clearly they can get measurements.
Growth scan with DD (can't remember when?) said she was in the 60-80th %ile (depending on gender) and was born at the 85th.

I had lots of growth scans due to a big baby. They estimated DD at 7lb 4oz at 34 weeks, she was born at 38 weeks at 9lbs exactly!

Id like to know this to!
scan at 27+5 she was measuring 1134g or 2lb 8oz and then I had to have a scan on monday while in hospital and at 30+5 and she was measuring 1800g or 3lb 15.5oz

when i had toby turned they said he was looking like an 11 pounder - that was about 37/38 weeks i think. when he was born he was 9 pd 13 and that was at 42 weeks..
he had a large head though so when they averaged it out it made him bigger than he really was. what they do is take measurements for head, belly, thighs, etc and then average it out to get a weight, which is why it is only a guesstimate.

I am so interested in this too. I am pretty sure about my dates due to early dating scans...but bubs is now scanning 2 weeks ahead. Will keep an eye on him...

Sam was estimated to be 6pd12 at her 36 week scan but was born 6pd 14 at just over 38 weeks.
Anthony was estimated to be 10pd5 at the 41 weeks scan but was born 8pd8 at 42 weeks. He was estimated at 6pd14 at his 34 weeks scan.
And interestingly enough at 4 weeks old both my babies have weighed within 100 grams of each other

At 38 weeks baby was estimated to be 8lb12 she was born 7lb12. One thing I was told while having the sizing scan was something you never want to hear that the length of her femar(sp?) was off the charts. She did have a big head though, still does infact but that's cos her dad does too lol

Maya was 3.45kg (7lb9oz) on u/s at 36 weeks and was born at 38 weeks 4.1kg (9lb 1oz), so either she put on a pound and a half in two weeks, or she was bigger than they estimated.
The gremlins were pretty accurate - I had a scan on the Monday that estimated them at 2.6kg (about 6lb) and 3.2kg (7lb1oz) (36 weeks exactly) and they were born the following Saturday at 36w5d weighing 2.9kg and 3.2kg.
Lil miss was estimated to be around 6lb/2.6kg at 35 weeks, and we all thought the scan wasn't that accurate as after 3 big for gestation babies, it seemed really small. She was born at 39 weeks 7lb12oz/3.515kg so was really tiny compared to her sisters.

DS was estimated to be 7lb 4oz 2 days before due date and was born 12 days later (10days overdue) at 8lb 13oz.
I honestly don't think the scan was accurate as thats a huge amount of weight to put on in 12 days, well IMO anyway.

I had 4 growth scans they thought he would be big over 4kgs. he was born 4.290kg or 9p 7oz.
so pretty close, born at 39 weeks.
but have heard how inaccurate they are someone was told they would have an 8p baby and ended up only 5pound.!
