My hands are in a terrible state at the moment, they are dry, cracked and quite sore.

The thing that worked best for my hands (when they were cracked and bleeding  ) was Cetaphil. I think I used this one. It seemed to be the only thing that stopped my hands from being like sandpaper.

the body shop used to stock a hemp cream that was really really great. I think they may still stock it...

Nutrimetics hand and nail treatment cream is really good for dry hands as is clarins handcrea. The clarins one is dea but it lasts through 6 hand washings and leaves your hands soft and smelling really lovely. I get very dried cracked hands, they are painful (and im a chronic handwasher which dosen't help) and these two have been the best Ive found so far. Neutrogena do a good one too, but I find it greasy and I don't like the smell.

Breastfeeding dries out your hands something wicked..sounds strange but it is true.

Wow, really? Thanks for that!!!  I get dermititus on my hands really bad, some times, normally when I wash my hands heaps, it gets so bad that the crack and bleed and I can hardly make a fist or straighten my hands. I use Neutrogena Norwegian formula hand cream when it gets really that bad. Have to do it when the kids are in bed and I know I can sit and not touch anything and let it absorb.

the Simunovich Olive handcream is quite good (and NZ made). it used to be absolutely awesome and you would only need the tiniest bit and your hands would stay soft and smooth for ages, but they have changed the recipe a bit. but is still really lovely.

Oh yes, the Neutrogena Norwegian stuff is good too, and pretty cheap! But it is pretty greasy, so make sure you don't have to touch too much.

I have found Dermasoft Sorbolene Cream really good - have only just started using it and its good. I have excema as well so perfect for that too.

Ditto. I also use medco acqueous cream. Both you can usualy find in the supermarket and not badly priced either.

Ok thanks ladies, lots of suggestions.
I hate that greasy feel of most hand creams, so usually end up wasing it off again. The one you suggested sounds good fattarts, especially since it lasts through handwashing. Maybe I'll see if I can try some first.
Good point about water, I never seem to drink enough, so another reason to make sure I do.

I use Avalon Organics Lavender hand & body lotion - bit pricey ($22 for 340g) but works wonders on my excema! Not overly greasy either

DP has bad eczema/dry skin/huge cracks on his hands he uses Dermasoft soap and cream on his hands. Doesn't 'fix' his problem but eases things for him. Otherwise the Lucas' pawpaw ointment is FANTASTIC!

I use 'Sally Hansen - Radiant Hands, Nails & Cuticles creme'.
It's really nice and smells so nice. It has Vitamins A, E, C and grapeseed oil & chamomile.
Good for your hands and nails and non-greasy or sticky.

I reccomend either Clarins (the hand and nail one the other one is not a moisturising i find) or Shiseido handcreams they are awesome.
