Topic: Help I need advice how to tell.........? Posted: 17 December 2005 at 7:42pm |
Ok this may seem a little lame but I am not too sure how to tell my SIL we no longer want or need her to babysit she has been doing it only for a few weeks but has let us down twice not to mention showed up late and hung over. So we have asked a friend if she will do it. I don't want to affend her cuase she is lovely jsut too young and distracted (getting married soon) I have not been comfortable with her doing it anyway, but don't also want to casue problems with MIL anyone got a really tactful way I could tell.

Just say that your friend offered and you thought it might be nice to let her do it. or simply say exactly what you think - i mean hey, she needs to know in a nice way that you don't feel comfortable with her looking after Alan when she is hungover, and that you like her to be there early, so that you can make sure she knows everything she needs to know - not be rushing out the door wondering if she'll be ok.

maybe say that you know she must be really busy with her wedding coming up and didn't want to impose on her anymore than you had been.
Failing that, mention that your friend has been dying to babysit and thought you should spread it round a bit.
My family all live relatively close and all want to babysit jake when I go into hospital. I chose my nana as she lives nearby, Jake loves her, and she can come here if it happens to be the middle of the night. Dad was a bit put-out as I think he wanted to, but when i explained why, he understood.
Also, if it is your husbands sister - make him tell her!

LOL Lizzle totally agree deffently etting hubby to tell her , but i do think I will be nice and say something like we decided to take some pressure off ect with her wedding coming up and leave it at that. Then once the wedding is over tell her we would rather keep Alan where he is as he is happy and we would rather not change the plans. HEy thanks guys I was really worried bout upsetting her cause I love my MIL who is not very well and she will worry bout the fact we don't get on or anything like that.
