My 4 week old has colic (i think) she has the symptoms as described on every website i have looked at, EXCEPT the "crying for three hours or more per day" she is just restless and very windy, drawing her legs up and straining etc. any advice? is this colic or should i get her checked out?

I found lying Harmony on a towel on the floor helped her burp too as the pressure that is put on her tum got rid of her wind.give it a try or there is also weleda colic powder and infacol which u can get from any chemist. My mother gave Harms a bottle of cooled boiled water which eased it a bit too.theres a few suggestions and hope you find one that works

You could try a warm bath especially holding bubs over on her tum and then a gentle massage with some oils afterwards.
I had an unsettled windy boy for many many weeks and I tried so many different things. It is a difficult time and an emotional one especially for you as all you want to do is help your baby. So please remember no matter what; you are doing the best you can. Unforunately some bubs are just windy. She will get better but certainly if you feel need be seek some help from your plunket nurse or gp.

*Weleda Colic Powder rocks.
*lie baby on back and push knees gently up to tummy one at a time then together
*Natropharm have a colic spray (Not sure how good this is never used it)
*you can get mini hot water bottles, - full with warm tap water and if you have a bouncer pop bubba in and use the strap that holds them in to hold the bottle on tummy (we used to do this when bubba was real bad).
* After feeding rub bubbas tummy in circular motions with a firm hand clockwise from hip right upto belly button round and down.

*rhuger drops work for alot of people I believe (havent tried myself)

thats all I got im afraid
(My bub had reflux and allergies with her colic too :S)

My mum swears by giving baby a teaspoon of cooled boiled water before feeding.
