Topic: Henna tattoos Posted: 30 January 2007 at 12:56pm |
After seeing Emma's tat (and then finding out the cost ) I'd really like to get a henna one done.
I've only seen people doing them in the malls and at Vic Park Market in town and all are going off pre-printed designs.
Does anyone know of somewhere you can design it your self and they do it free-hand?
Does henna only come in orange/brown/black?

You can buy tubes of henna at most indian stores, be careful as there is a black one which has a substance in it which is quite toxic, but generally henna is brown and will last up to 10 days depending on how long you leave the original design on
with the tubes and powder, you can use a stencil or apply straight from the tube. I used to have a kit and we had great fun in the summer

Yap henna is a type of plant leaf that leaves that colour stain....depending on your skin colour....if you are very fair chances are that yours will come out brown.
Traditionally I am suppose to have henna on the palm of both hands at my wedding....I did it....waited for 5 hours...washed it off and nothing!! A faint orange....arrrggg. So they told me that some people just dont stain!
There are several Indian beauty type places who do any design free hand! I can hunt around for you!

When we were up the coast there was a place that did airbrush tattoos using a thing that looked like a tattoo gun but actually sprayed some type of ink/paint stuff. Not sure how long it lasts but they looked pretty cool.

I had one of those airbrush tattoos and it lasted about a week before it started rubbing off but if you get sunburnt and then tan, when the tat washes off your tat will still be there as it happened to me lol ,but didnt look to bad just looked like a tattoo done with white ink and it stayed there for weeks
