Topic: hens night ideas needed Posted: 07 August 2007 at 4:31pm |
man, talk about panic mode, friends wedding was suppose to be in december but they have brought it forward to september, and she suddenly decided that she still wanted her hens night, so i only have basically 1 week to organise and get invites out.
And i have no idea what to do...she wants something along the lines of what she did for mine, the problem being as since she has brought it forward by 3mths i dont have that cash...
Mum has offered her place up to have the hens night, so am going to have a potluck dinner, but am wanting some game ideas etc.

Oh wow! Sounds like you're going to be busy!
Pot-luck sounds like a great idea. In terms of games, there are the usual:
Design a dress out of toilet paper.
Have bowls full of cream with a cherry underneath and people have to get the cherry with their teeth (no hands).
Ask the groom a pile of questions before the night and then ask the bride to guess his answers...for every question she gets wrong she has to put a marshmallow in her mouth.
The chocolate game (kinda a kids game but oh so yum)
Get everyone to write some relationship advice on a piece of paper then get the bride to read them out and guess who wrote each one.
Maybe also get a little book so all the guests can write a wedding message for the bride. You can then add some photos of the night so she has a keepsake.
Hmmmm...can't think of any more but will get back to you if I do.

There are heaps of sites you could google but here are some of the games we had at my hen night and went down well with huge mix of different people:
*The peg game - everyone starts with 1/2 pegs and everytime ~~~ is said you take the peg off the person who said taboo word. Person with most pegs at end gets a little prize. (Could be bride/groom/wedding....)
*Guess the song from the lyrics/musical intro (using romantic songs)
*Headbands. Everyone gets a word to do with wedding stuck on head. Take turns to ask yes/no Qs to find out what/who you are (3 turns each)
*Pass the parcel - ask the bride and groom Qs about their relationship beforehand then slip these in between layers. If guest gets it right then they peel back a layer to reveal next question. (if you ask groom q's then bride can take part too but otherwise is nice way to involve other guests and let them get to know the couple a bit more - obviously consider who guests are before asking too many raunchy questions )
Oh and with the pot luck you could get everyone to bring their recipe with them so you could give them to bride?

Although my bridesmaid hasn't even asked about this yet, I have already decided I am having a singstar party. Can't wait! Will hire a ps2 and the singstar games from the vidoo shop, may even get buzz as well. Will probably have a few drinks and trek into town (or not) but I WILL NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES be wearing one of those tragic veil/ugly dress combo that girls seem to do on hens nights. Tacky and (for me that is, I never wanted to do that dress up as an ugly bride palaver)

*Toilet paper wedding dresses*
Split into equal teams and compete to make the best dress in the time allowed.
*Play Dough Models*
Each person makes a model of the best/worst/funniest penis they've ever encountered, and then shares the story behind it.

Going into town is always a fun idea.
Have a list of dares for the bride to complete and give her a bell which she must ring to let everyone know when she is about to tackle a challenge.

I like the challenge idea, jus tnot the tacky costume idea! We used to set up cool challenges back in the day, but I'm not too sure my stamina is up to it these days.. (im sooo old)

I did a pass the parcel but made it huge with a prize in every layer and a piece of trivia and a dare in each as well.
Pressie: hand cream
Trivia: men invented tampons
Dare: take off your bra without taking off your top!

Personally I preferred having my hens night at a house (although we went out for dinner first) - so much more cosy and really fun! Best thing if you get so blotto there's a bed/couch you can crash on! (I didn't at mine as wasn't able to drink but....)
