I am a bit confused.. my breast has been quite sore today .. really achey but I cant feel any lumps.

No fever, do feel crap but then I am pg LOL

It is one spot, not all over, and I really notice it when I am holding Jake on that side (or bend over, it throbs).

I didnt get sore boobs when pg with Jake so I dont know if its just that or a blocked duct (but wouldnt there be a lump?).

Any ideas????

Oo ouch yep sounds like mastitis! I had it, had the sore boob, then that night woke up with a fever, it sucked, i was hot but freezing and shaking and felt sick, so went to the dr and got Antibiotics. Mine was just in one spot under my boob, but my god it was painful.

Yeah it could be mastitis as MamaS said. I have had it a few times and often it feels sore before I can find a lump or see any redness. Keep an eye on it and maybe pop to the Dr tomorrow

Still sore but still no lump.. will just keep feeding Jake off that side first and see how I am tomorrow.

No chills or aches and pains (other than the boob) so thats good!

I had something similar about a week or so ago but it did then a day or two later I did get a bit lumpy and then even got some red streaks so I thought uh oh, mastis again but I just massaged and by the next day it was all gone. So maybe massage it just in case to stop any lumps forming.   I was so glad it went away as had already had about 4 weeks of antibiotics in 8 weeks so wasn't keen for another lot!!!

How are you feeling today Mel?  I would go straight to the Dr if you think it's mastitis...it can get very bad very quickly. The first time I had it, I had plunket here on a home visit at 5pm and I told the nurse my boob was sore and I wasn't feeling flash..she said keep an eye on it and I massaged it and got Clodagh to feed of it etc...by 8 pm I was in bed feeling fluey, 9 pm I was at the local after hours and by 10pm I'd been admitted to Wgtn hospital where I spent the next 4 days on IV antiobiotics (very painful and not at all pleasant).  About 4 weeks later I developed it in the other breast but recongnised the symptoms very early, took myself to Dr and 'only' had to take oral AB's for a week.

Sounds like yr self care is good but make sure you see a Dr dude

I agree with Emmecat - definitely see the doctor if you think it is mastitis (and it sounds like it might be). I am pretty much an expert unfortunately, after at least 6 doses in the past 18 mths. The last time I had it, I left it too late to go to the doc (as in went at 2pm instead of pushing for a morning appt) and ended up in hospital for three days. It can be so nasty...

Thanks Anthea

Well I massaged it in the shower that night and feed off it first for the next couple of feeds and went back to wearing a bra at home and its fine... so not sure if it was a small blockage or due to the pregnancy.
