just curious as to how ppl knew they were in the beginnings of labour.

I have backache, like period pain, and everytime i eat something about an hour later my system seems to clear itself out, i am getting more frequent tightenings in the groin area, but nothing to write home about, they dont last long or hurt.

so i am just curious

Hello...I thought I was getting a really bad flu and had a dull yucky ache all over. No matter how I tried to make myself feel better it never worked. I think I ran a bath at 2 in the morning to warm up!!!

Sounds like you are having Braxton Hicks..they are like contractions but NOWHERE near anything like the pain!!!

yup, you'll definitely know. clearing yourself out is a common sign of impending labour though, so might not be too long now! i had niggles on and off for a day or so before and then the runs the night before. i woke the morning of, with irregular pains and then had a show. the pains got stronger and more regular and at 11am i said to hubby, do you want to have a baby today? it was different to the braxton hicks i'd had up until then, and when they started getting regular and closer together i knew that it was time. fingers crossed its soon for you!!!

Sounds like the next 24 to 48 hours are going to be interesting! Like has been said, those are signs things might be going to start...

I had painful contractions for about two weeks. they would get regular and then stop. very frustrating. Anyway, one day they were coming, as usual, so I shut up and didn't say anything, as had said something everyday only to be bummed out. And that night my wtaers broke and contractions came on ery quickly, very strongly. Also, i got a show about two weeks before bubs was born.

My waters broke so I knew for sure I was in labour! But for the day before that I'd been having slightly painful contractions. Hope it happens soon....

Most people don't realise they are in the early stages of labour... you kinda don't want to be too hopeful at that stage adn the early signs can go on for weeks. It's only in hindsight that most of us go "Ohhhhh... that's what that was"

lol, given up been hopeful that im in labour, have had a few days of stop start stop start and as i was just getting annoyed and frustrated i have handed it back to the universe and said, when you are ready for me to have this baby i will be waiting.

so plodding along i go, happy enough that sometime soon i will get to meet my precious daughter.

Hi Kazzle,
How are you feeling this morning?

When I went into labour it was at 2am and my pains woke me up.

They were more uncomfortable than painful though, but I noticed that everytime I got up to walk, I was okay... but as soon as I would try lay down or sit down the pains started again. From then we just timed them and called the midwife.

You'll know... don't worry. :)
