Just wondering how you all clean your stainless steel kitchen appliances? I have a Westinghouse fridge which is awesome, any fingerprints clean straight off easily with a wet cloth. BUT I have one of the Fisher & Paykel Elba dishwashers and . It does seem to be fingerprint resistant as it doesn't get too many marks, but when it does it is impossible to clean off! I spilt something down the door yesterday and I've cleaned it off but there is still a big smear mark that I can't get rid off. I haven't used any cleaning products on it, I have only tried a normal cloth and one of those microfibre cloths. Help please!

We use a small amount of baby oil on our stainless and it comes up great.

Oooh, that's a good tip.  I just use a microfibre cloth and water but I'll try the baby oil.  I wonder if that would work on my UV coated windows too.

You can buy stuff specifically to clean them from the supermarket - comes in wipes and also spray bottles. But I have also found that the scotch magic erasers are great for them too. (And for huge amounts of crayon on dining room walls too )!

When I was a kid, we always seemed to melt bread bags into ss toasters... the only thing we found to clean it was nail polish remover. Maybe worth a go?

Thanks guys, I bought some of those magic erasers this arvo and they have worked perfectly! Busymum, we always melted the bread bags too - luckily the toasters are all cool touch now!

I use the Stainless Steel cleaner from Signature Range - it is so easy, reasonably cheap and has lasted ages

a repair man told me that the specifically designed stainless steel stuff will harm the finish of your item. he suggested glass cleaner. i don't have s/s goods, so no idea if that works

I haven't tried cleaning any of my SS stuff yet but can I just say if you live near a beach don't go with SS finish. My gosh we have a slow cooker and knife block in SS and both now are starting to get rust marks as is the SS bench. I have no idea how but it's gotta be something to do with the sea air.

Hi just spotted this thread - use methylated spirits on mine, its recommended especially for the finger prints - and we used it for years in a camping ground we owned!

The baby oil is also awesome for keeping them all clean and shiny!

We've been using Stainless Steel cleaning products for a few years now and haven't noticed anything wrong with our products. Admittedly we don't use it all the time, don't need to.

I also second the glass cleaner & meths - we used that when I worked in hospo on the fridges & curtlery and it was great.

We have stainless steel finish to dishwasher, benches, range hood, rubbish bins and surrounds of the oven. We use stainless steel wipes from Bunnings. We find them to be very good. I have never noticed damage to my appliances either though been using for just over a year- ?maybe causes damage long term?

I just wipe down with a clean damp cloth. I have the proper cleaner stuff but I find it just leaves everything streaky.
