Topic: How long does a tin of formula last you? Posted: 09 May 2011 at 12:56pm |
My we man has gone onto formula due to health issues and he is going through a tin in 5 days. Hes on soy and the cost is $30 a tin. He is having around 5 240ml bottles a day. I alway thought formula lasts a week per tin with my first child who was formula feed. Is this normal do you think?? i should share that my we boy was only 6.5kg at almost 8months and has put on 500grams in 2 weeks on the formula. I was thinking maybe he is just making up for how little he was?? what do others think?

Hey, yea I got through about the same. We always have leftover formula in bottles, so I hate to think how much gets tipped down the drain!!
Where can you buy in bulk from foodstuffs?!? We use Karicare gold, and I'm always trying to find out where to buy it cheaper. Love to know! :-)

My parents own a restaurant so i am able to get bulk stuff via foodstuff through them. It works out to be $25 a tin for soy and its $29.90 in the shops. So its not a massive saving but it all adds up.

That would be cool, a restaurant that serves formula, and solids all cut up and stuff.

We use the s26 lactose free for both kids. A tin lasts me 4 days. They're $30 a tin. I think I need to take out an investment with s26 or something. Stupid lactose intollerance.

yup same here, tin every 6 days, S26 NB, usually $20.90, often on special for $17.99, usually grab a few when its cheaper, every little bit counts.
DD has 5 x 180mL bottles a day, she doesnt have the whole 180mL tho, usually about 150mL ish, hate pouring all that $ down the drain.

A tin used to last us about a week, depending on how many bottles they had a day etc.

I'm mixed feeding so use less formula that I would if fully FFeeding but a tin lasts me almost 2 weeks. My boy only has 50-100ml at a time, 4-6 feeds a day.
