Just doing a wardrobe sort out and wondering how long it takes for baby bump to deflate post birth. i.e. I'm due start of jan is it worth just packing all my summer clothes that no longer fit until the end of next year? or put them somewhere I can get them later in the year.

Rule of thumb is you'll look about 6 months pg immediately after birth, and then how fast it goes from there varies for different people. I've still got more of a tum that I did before and I've been BF 2-hourly for 9 months. Other people in my due-in thread were back in pre-preg clothes within 6 weeks. Can you put them somewhere that they won't taunt you, but you can get them out if need be?

Also you might get back to the same size but your body shape could change.
Even though I'm back to the same size, I found a lot of clothes didn't sit right on me post-baby due to boobies changing and my bum/hips have changed shape also. Not to mention the saggy tummy

I had DD in Feb and didn't wear any of my summer clothes until the following year. It took a while to drop the extra weight but my breasts doubled/tripled in size and I couldn't fit any of my tops. I didn't mind too much and ended up wearing breast feeding singlets a lot.

It took me a while to go back to 'normal' - about 9 months! But even just before getting pg this time (when I was smaller than I was pre-first pregnancy), everything was a different shape - my hips are never going to shrink back to pre-pg shape! So some of the clothes may never fit quite the same again

FX that won't happen - and I have to say friends that had their babies younger (early 20's rather than 30's) tended to return back to normal more quickly, so hopefully that's the case for you too!

Keep them around I say. Being due in early Jan means you still have a couple of months of summer left I was back in pre-preg tops and pants within a week but not my super tight jeans until 2-3 weeks . But yeah, as everyone says - it's different for different people (and different pregnancies! I hope this bump disappears as fast after birth!).

Took me about 13months to look semi-normal after Jake, and I'm still way fatter than pre-preg after Morgan (shes almost 15 months) so I guess it depends on how much weight you gain and how quickly you lose it .... I still have about 6-7kgs to lose, so won't be in my normal clothes for a while yet!

Well 4 years later .......hmmm.   No really it is different for everyone. My niece came out of the maternity ward in her pre pregnancy jeans. Fully zipped. For me I don't think I have ever got back in them.

My loose floaty tops fit fine within a few weeks, but little things like tank tops and singlets etc I had to finally admit defeat a year later (Ironically it was only a week or 2 before finding out I was preg again) cos my boobs are too big for them and they either fall out the top, or hike it up at the front exposing my c-section pouch

My jeans on the other hand, i was fitting back into them within 3 months (they would have fit me size-wise earlier, it was more a case of how they sat on my scar)

My belly went down pretty quickly, it amazed everyone even my midwife, but I am a dancer and have/had pretty strong tummy muscles (didn't have the smallest of bumps until I was like 25 weeks if not more)

I'm now wearing pre-preg jeans, but just can't do them up! Can get the zip done up, but not the button so I do them up with a hair tie :P BUT I hadn't worn these jeans for about 3 years before I got pregnant as I was too fat for them! (I kept them as they were pretty much brand new!)

All my tops etc fit fine, But I wear a lot of just plain long sleeve tops, tshirts, singlets, vests, nothing too fancy so most of it is kinda stretchy material IYKWIM?

I do still have a muffin roll (love handles) and a bit of a flap of tummy that BFing hasn't gotten rid of... Should really start working on that....

i think that is the most frustrating thing about pregnancy is that it is different for everyone and not predictable (except for the fact that eventually a baby appears).

so far I havent actually put on any weight it is just my bump and mega boobs that are making my clothes not fit. I am a kg lighter than my prepregnancy weight atm. so fingers crossed I don't put on tons in the next 3.5months.

keep them i reakon , i think its totaly different for every person , for me i gained 15kg in pregnancy (55kg-70kg) lost 11kg's the first week and by 3 weeks post birth weighed less than before i got pregnant (52kg) . I definatly think breastfeeding is what did it for me .
