Topic: How long is your scar? Posted: 21 March 2007 at 1:30pm |
Everyone keeps going on about how short c/s scars are, but I think mine is quite long. I guess it's probably because it was an emergency c/s (was haemorraging and Hannah was distressed). So how long is your scar? Mine is 22cm.

Mine is around 15 cm long. I always thought they were supposed to be around 10 cm long - obviously not!

Mine is about the distance between my thumb and little finger out stretched (i.e. not small), but will measure when I get home.
My emerg CS was due to Caitlin getting stuck so no VB and 2x failed vonteuse attempts (sp?) (very long story cut short! )
I'm pretty impressed with my scar, but not with this flabby jelly belly that hangs over it

Toni do you find that the scar dimples? So the tummy really looks saggy? That's what I'm finding, but 3 yrs on from the c/s I'm quite impressed with the "invisibility" of the scar.

Mine is only about 10cm, although quite well hidden, so I may have missed a wee bit.
I also had an emergency c/s - over 39 hours of labour, then Amelia decided to go put her head back! Lovely.

I get out my tape measure and can't see past my flab so get DP to help he is like WTF. "What are you doing this for?" "I just want to do it for Oh Baby" I just confirm to him he lives in a mad house LOL
My scar is 14cm maybe not so long but it is wide! I put it down to having an infection there.
I love this thread as I have always wondered if I am normal...if there is such a thing?

Mine is 10cm, however when trying to measure it I noticed there is actually no scar there anymore, I can only tell where it is because my tummy sags over it a bit.
Dam she did a good job Abbys only two!!

My scar is 14 cm's and I think it would have healed a lot better if I did what I was suppose to do. And not vacuum the house and help lifting and moving stuff when we moved house at 6 weeks after birth.
But it healed really nicely. I didnt have stitches that you can see or staples. It was stitches from the inside and then some sort of special glue thing or something. Couldnt see anything from the outside.

Mines 14cm and healing nicely. It still feels 'thick' around the scar and its still a little bit sensative and aches sometimes ... CS for an upside down boy. I had stitches which dissolved ok. Still have an overhang and I wonder if its there to stay mind you I havent done any exercise to tone my jelly belly yet ...

Mine is 10cm, and a very pale pink colour. Took ages to heal though, and got all weepy and gross for a couple of weeks. And yup, still got the dang overhang Mine wasn't an emergency c-section, but Joshie wouldn't come out - and I think I may have actually demanded they cut him out at one point

I had a purse string stitch. They sew you up with the dis solvable stuff and leave out a bit that connects one side of your scar to the other. If you have problems they can easily remove it that way. I had no problems nor infection.
