i dont think there really are any hard and fast rules about this. you need to really be guided by your baby. and remember to give milk before solids...

for instance my 3 mth old only has 4 feeds a day on average, yet others will have much more.

I'd be keen to hear people's views on this too. Anyssa is still having 5-6 breastfeeds and 2 solids feeds of 3 ice cubes full per day. She hasn't dropped any milk feeds since starting solids, and she is gradually increasing her solids volume per meal.

just be guided by your baby... Milk is really important so give before food.

Three meals a day is a lot for a 6 month old. Luke was having about 5-7 breast feeds a day/ night and moved onto three meals at about 7.5 - 8 months months but in saying that he has small snacks too.

really depends on your baby and your the best judge of that!

At 6 months, Eva was having 6 BF's a day. We're down to 5 feeds per day now, as she's dropped a night feed.

Blair's the same as Keziah, 4 BF's a day (and I know that if he's taking the same as he was 2 weeks ago he takes about 200 - 240ml a feed) and 3 solids. My boy isn't little (10kg) and has been on solids since 4 months and can munch thru approx 7 cubes of food at dinner time and has 4 - 5 fruit with farex at breaky (with toast finger) and the 4 -5 vege cubes at lunch (with cruskit)

Occasionally I've had to do a 5 min feed in the middle of the night but only when I've tried everything else. He went from 6 - 7 (demand) feeds, to 4(routine) with minimal fuss during our week at MCU.

Hi,

Just follow bubs lead. Alex is still demand fed and he is having as much milk as he ever was. He is a couple of months older, and just started having a second meal but he is having a minimum of 6 feeds a day and can have as many as 8. He dropped his night feeds nearly 1.5 months ago.

Rowan has 5 routine breastfeeds a day(don't know quantity) and 3 solids meals a day (after bfs). She's been on solids since 5 mths and weighs approx 8.2kgs. She has about 3-4 icecubes of fruit/cereal for breakfast, 2-3 icecubes of veges or fruit for lunch and 4-6 icecubes of veges and meat for dinner.

Alani has three solids meals a day and since she has increased the amount of solids she eats, she seems to have dropped one milk feed. She will have between half and a whole can of solids each meal and 4 milk feeds. She weighs around 7.5kgs.
