Daniel is now about 8kg and on 3 meals of solids a day so I figure we can now ditch the dream feed..
His routine goes like this (exactly the same times each night):
6:30pm - bed and asleep
8pm - feed, 150-180mls
10:30pm - feed, 100ml
We have been reducing the amount in his 10:30 feed which is why its fairly small now. Should we just ditch it altogether or wean him off it? Cause he's had that feed every night since he was 2 weeks old
Have you tested dropping it, he might just sleep through it totally unaware. If he does wake up maybe have a bottle (or boob can't remember if you are bfing) ready and wean instead. Fortunately for me I didn't have to go through it as Spencer dropped it of his own accord, if he hadn't I would have been a bit reluctant to try just dropping it too but do think that it will be quicker and easier than weaning as he may just sleep straight through.
Could you not increase his day feeds and then drop that last one?? I've never dream fed but I'd imagine it will just be a matter of breaking the habit - you might have a few unsettled nights but then I'm sure all will be forgiven
We used to dream feed, although started at an older age so DD wasn't used to it from early on when we decided to drop it. We just bit the bullet and didn't give it to her one night, she slept through fine. Maybe give him a bit more at his 8pm feed or more solids at his last solids feed?
He won't take any more solids at dinner time. When he decides hes had enough, thats it. He shuts his mouth and spits everything out lol.. which is fine. He's getting all that he will take.
We decided we would give him like 60-70mls this coming week and then ditch the dream feed completely the following week as DH will be on leave so at least if he plays up it doesn't effect DH's work
