Topic: I had to buy my own xmas pressy!! Posted: 24 December 2008 at 2:35pm |
i was going to the warehouse to do the last of my xmas shopping and my DP gives me his eftpos card and casually goes "oh and can you get a $50 gift card for you from me for christmas".'i'm not sure whether to be annoyed or not, that's just how he is, he just doesn't understand why it's such a big deal lol.

I understand, I got a camera for Christmas. Well, I really got it a month ago but that is my Christmas present (I was with him when he bought it).
Yet he has presents under the tree... Oh well maybe he will surprise me and wrap something up and I don't mean the empty camera box!

Meh, Men. My DH does that all the time. Last year for my birthday he gave me his eftpos card and told me to go and get myself something nice.
Apparently its my own fault because I said I didnt want anything. Isnt that what all women say?
This year I got myself a camera for christmas from him. Hes bought himself some cycling gear.
It would be nice to have a nice thoughtful gift for once

LOL, I'd be annoyed if I had to buy my own giftcard! Not like he needs to get the size or colour right. I did buy DH's present for me this year, but it's a ring that had to go with other ones, so that's OK!

wow, 3 years with no presents!!! that's pretty harsh. my DP didn't get me anything for my last birthday and i told him in no uncertain terms that i definitely expected something next year, even if we just went out for dinner together, i think he got the message lol.

I have been secretly getting presents for DH and he has just seen them under the tree...he asked me last night what i would like and I gave him a list of things so he could make the decision ( I am difficult to buy for) he then came home and made me look at it to make sure i liked it....lol it is now wrapped up and under the tree.
Also i found out today he has looked in every music store in CHCH and he cannot find the album i want .(it was not on the list...good boy) We cut up our credit cards so cannot buy online.
Anyone out there seen Nightwish - Dark passion play?

well DH and I decided not to buy pressies for each other this year, which was a little disappointing but then neither of us really need anything so it probably would be a waste of money. DH can be a little slack sometimes but then occasionally comes up with something great so it makes up for it

Ive just got back from buying my pressie from DH (I needed a new handbag, and he went looking for one, but wasnt sure I would like anything he picked)
So I get it home and say "You best go wrap my pressie then"
he opens the bag and looks like this
"Thats the one I was going to buy you, but I wasnt sure you would like the buttons"
Man! He should have just got me the gift and I wouldnt have had to deal with Christmas shoppers

My Df would be very proud of himself right now, he has always got me a present for every birthday, christmas and roses every valentines day, even when I think he hasn't got me annything he has. I always love my gifts, I wouldn't care what he got me I just love that after 4 years he still cares....
I reckon a card at least???

DH and I never do Christmas presents, I still wish a little that he'd get me something as a surprise, but unless I told him to he wouldn't think of it. We tend to buy what we want, when we want it - ah the joys of being childless (oh crap! that's gonna end soon, lol).
His birthday presents usually leave something to be desired, he puts a lot of thought into them but always manages to miss the mark totally except for this year when he bought me a handbag I'd wanted for ages and was saving for from the Trade Aid shop, then filled it with "world survival gear" (bandaids, alcohol wipes, a little torch, pens, a notepad, a flick lighter and best of all a Leatherman multi-tool which just rocks my world, you wouldn't believe how useful it is for the girliest things). He's going to have a really hard one to beat next year now, lol!
Ella - if he had dared to hand me his card to buy my own gift card, it wouldn't have been for just $50, I would have emptied his account

I'm sorry chick but that last post really had me cracking up!! They are so predictable.
We don't do Xmas and haven't bough Xmas gifts for anyone for years. I lie, I spent $15.00 on a secret santa for work and $20.00 for my SS on ohbaby.
We do birthdays and make them really special as it's more personal. I'm sure things will be changing in the next year or too but it's saved us thousands so far. Being kiddy free up till now was the only reason we could get away with it.
Another tip is to have Xmas 2-3 days after the 25th so family can take advantage of the boxing day sales.

lol i'm glad i could make someone laugh with how hopeless my man is, it makes me laugh too.....it's either that or just constantly be annoyed with him.
i agree, the boxing day sales are great. my family did xmas a couple of days late one year and it was so much cheaper.

Oh my I feel for you ladies who have never received a present from your Significant Others.
DH ordered a book for me from Amazon back in September that had been sitting in MY draw waiting to be wrapped and yet on the 24th I had to wrap it and stick it under the tree???? and it didn't even get a card or anything stuck to it
I wasn't allowed to buy DH anything in return because he messed up and ended up ordering duplicates of something he got for our eldest boy so cost us a bit more... Whoops! But then after we had been shopping for the last of our gifts he said..."So, what have you gotten me??" "Like WTF?? You said I wasn't allowed to buy you anything and NOW you want something?? GAH MEN!!!!
