Hi - does anyone use Porse (or similar) in home childcare for their little one(s)?

We are organising for Oli to go and spend one morning a week with a friend and her little one, but I want to pay her the "going rate". Is anyone willing to tell me what they pay? Sorry I know its a bit personal - but need to make sure I am not ripping her off!

Thanks

Hi we use barnadoes and they charge $5.75 per hour per child and we get a discount on top of that for having two with them, we only do 1 day per week so not sure if it is cheaper if you do more hours.

I don't mind telling you, I'm pretty sure barnadoes have the charges on their website :)

I'm not sure what our carer gets paid though, cos she only has my two on the day they go which means she wouldn't even be getting min wage and I'm not sure if that is legal etc.

I was paying $4.50 through Easymind I think.

I am going to charge $4.50 to do private care. With a minimum number of hours a week.

But Auckland the going rate will be higher.

if you worked out our daycare hourly rate it would come between $4.80 and $5 an hour (pretty sucky when you think hourly!!!)

if it is a once off babysitting etc I would normally pay like $50 or so for a day cashy or evening $40 or more cashy!

I would def suggest hourly rates to her and maybe say - but they are so low - maybe i could pay you $x?

With Porse, the rate totally depends on your carer. We pay $6 per hour, but when we were looking for an in-home carer, I came across people charging anywhere from $5 to $8 per hour, and all of them are with porse. We pay extra for food too, but it's so great not having to make lunch etc in the mornings!

With Porse do you take them to the carers home or do they look after them in your home?

The daycare I am looking at charges a flat rate of $40 per day. I thought it seemed pretty expensive but that is for up to 11 hours. Even though I would only put my baby in for 6 or 7 hours Im not sure if it is any cheaper.

Porse you can take them to other peoples homes as in a carers home, but Porse also have Nannies who go into the childs own home if the parents so wish

We pay $4.50 per hour and get a discount for having 2 kids in care, though obviously we are in Hamilton so probably cheaper than Auckland.
