I think this is my 3rd thread of the day
I may be going back to work a few days a week for a few months or so and a friend will look after my boys at her place. How much do I pay her? She doesn't know either so we are both asking around. Do I pay her per child per hour? 3 out of 4 mornings Jack will be at kindy, I will drop him off at kindy and she will pick him up, do I just pay her for the hours he is with her?
 Any help would be appreciated!

I would pay per hour per child.
Also I would pay her petrol money when she picks up your child.

Yes just pay for the hours he's with her.

I get paid $4.50/ hour to look after a child, I'm unqualified except being a mum.

If I went with a child care company, her mum would pay 4.80 with one company up to $7 with porse?

From what I heard, that's exactly what you do.
 Per child, per hour.
So you will only pay for Jack from the time she picks him up from Kindy.

Why don't you ring several homebased care organisations and ask them what they charge per hour. (Just pretend you are considering putting your children in home based care).
They might even have it on their websites.

I pay $5.75 per hour per child, that's through barnados, I think they do put their prices on their website, not sure if they vary from area to area.

l work for an agency and our home based caregivers get paid any where from $5-$10 hr, per child, the ones that get the higher rate normally only have one child.

Some of ours still get paid while the children are at kindy as they are the ones that will get called if the child is sick etc.

Feel free to PM me for info.

forgot to say, if you go through an agency your friend may be able to apply for a set up grant to pay for supplies etc

And don't forget if you're eligible for WINZ childcare subsidies you can get them if you sign up through an agency too...

Thanks for all your advice ladies. Based on the prices given above I have done my sums and will only earn about $50 more per week if I work 4 days and use childcare vs working 8hrs Saturday when DH has the boys and we keep our WFF. So not worth it really! But thanks for your help
