Topic: Insert help please Posted: 07 February 2008 at 3:08pm |
I've been using pocket nappies on Liam & am finding them really good so far. However, I do have about 3 microfibre inserts that aren't terribly absorbant. They've never leaked but are absolutely soaked after about 3 hours or so.
So should I ditch these inserts & start again with a more absorbant insert? Or can I use something like a hemp insert with the microfibre insert?? Help, I'm slightly confused!

Yep you can either use two together for more absorbency or you could put a hemp booster in there with it, is usually best to put the hemp the furthest from the skin cos although it absorbs more it doesn't wick it away quickly like the microfibre does. Oh and also 3 hours without a leak is really good (well it is if you have a mega pee'r anyway.)

3hrs is pretty good going! We have to use 2 inserts to last that long
Keep the inserts, but like cuppatea said, you can use them with another insert or use a hemp insert with it.

Thanks ladies.
Maybe we're doing ok after all, since we've had no leaks (apart from the odd explosive poo ).
I think I'll try a hemp insert to add a bit more absorbancy...

yeah 3 hours is good going, but adding hemp will increase your absorbency...but then again so will more microfibre, or BKT, or bamboo! to me tho 4 hours is the max i would really want them to be sitting in a wet nappy for...!

I also think that 3hrs on one mf insert alone is great! If you want your nappies to last longer by advice would be a hemp booster too - they're really absorbant and slim! Remember though that they do take some washing to reach their maximum absorbancy potential. I'd wash on hot for 3-4 washes before use and then they'll only get better with each wash.

My boy lasts for 2 hours with 3 layers of m/f plus a booster so you're doing well
