Topic: interesting lunch Posted: 19 March 2006 at 11:57pm |
hehe was thinking how weird this might look to an outsider....had a bbq yesterday with some friends up from wellington, angela and chris and there 6month old son sam, plus chris's mum, brother and sister, caitlyn and my mum.....nothing weird about that...but, chris is my ex and caitlyns daddy, ange is his wife and caitlyns stepmama and sam there son is her brother (not half, well yes technically, but dont want to raise her thinking hes not important enough to just be her brother)...and we all get along,im sams "aunty kelly" and me and ange trade gossip and chris and i joke and he plays with caitlyn....hes soooo good with her and she adores her daddy and loves her angela.....im so glad we can all genuinely like each other and get along for caitlyns sake...is this very unusual or am i just really really fortunate?

A bit of both, but I'd tend to be stronger on the "really really fortunate" part

very fortunate. we are a bit like that with my neice. my mum and dad raise her (have done since she was a baby) and her mum (my sister) and her father still get along. He and his new wife and baby come to all our family events and its more like he is another brother. Must have been strange for the new partners but both have accepted it as we have a really close family and we dont think of it as strange.

i think it's not strange, but mature. I had to speak to my (40 year old) parents about being civil to each other at family events like my 21st. I told them they would be banned if they couldn't behave themselves. It's still uncomfortable, but I have grown not to care. I wish my parents were like you guys!!! BTW, I didn't mean that to sound like you were all really old. especially as I'm probablyl older than you all!

I would say you are very fortunate. We have a very "civil" relationship with Jono's ex - they get along well, but her and I "tolerate" each other. You are lucky to all get on so well. I'm jealous!!

wow u think im mature nyah nyah nyah im mature!!!hehe just kidding
i just want to be for caitlyns sake, i genuinely like chris hes a really decent guy and deserves his happiness and i really admire angela for being so accepting of caitlyn and most importantly it means things are easier for my girl, which is the main thing obviously.
wish he lived closer for his and caitlyns sakes but it was better opportunity in wellington
have a photo from the lunch that ill post up when i re read the instructions for how to do it
