He is only 4 months old, I was really dubious about starting him on solids but he was showing all the signs. Is quite a big boy too

Probably best to let one of the more experienced Mums answer that one for you. Plunket did say to me that solids should be given whenever baby is still really hungry after a full breastfeed, so i would've thought that that means like 3 times a day if baby wants it - just not sure about with a 4mth old Have you thought about topping him up with formula after your BFs or giving a little more formula if formula fed for those other two main day meals?

The rule of thumb is to build up babys meal till it is around half a cup (that's around 125 ml), then you offer another meal, with breakfast being the last meal offered (due to the morning feed being the biggest and most importnat).

Most people start with lunch as it means any reactions the babys are awake for, with dinner they can be put down for the night before having a reaction so it isn't so obvious. Maybe move the time of day to lunch and slowly increase how much you give until you hit half a cup, then reintroduce dinner and build that to round half a cup.

Changing to lunch and increasing the amount might help stretch out his bresst feeding times too if he is feeding so often.

Good luck!
