for a teddy? Isobelle has always gone to sleep quite well by herself but recently has developed a koala behaviour, she just want to cling. So I've given her a teddy bear to cling to but she pulls it up to her face and I'm worried about the whole SIDS thing. What do you think?

henry has a 'sleeping teddy' its a baby teddy. But he doesnt pull it up to his face he only snuggles it when he wakes up. THough he likes to check its there before he goes to sleep. Id go with your gutt instinct. Will you sleep at night when she has a teddy in with her? There is only so much we can do to protect our children in my opinion.

Noah and Sienna have had blankies since they were little, Sienna from 5mths and Noah from Birth and they both went to sleep with them over their face all the time and it was never a problem so I think that 5mths is fine.

Heidi is 4 months and has a blankie (a piece of my pyjamas) she puts it right by her face and sometimes even covers her face with it, freaks me out but she is getting to where she will not sleep without it.

I think as long it does not have any sewn on eyes etc. or those little bean things in its feet (as they all seem to do these days) that could come off easily and she has good control of her hands e.g. can pull it close but also move it away then it should be okay. Is the bear very big?

Alot of stuff I have read says that you can introduce a teddy/blankie at approx 4 - 6 months

Lil miss has had "manky blanky" (one of the Lola Noukies blankets) since I stopped swaddling her around 5 mths, and she often sleeps with it over her face. Unless it was tight over bubs face it wouldn't really be a suffocation risk I wouldn't think.

We have one of the silk blanky teddy things, and it sometimes gets up over his face but it doesnt seem to worry him. Stresses mum out more hehe. I normally just check him once hes asleep and put it down beside his hand, sometimes tucked under him so he cant (thereotically) pull it up easily.

I put two manky blankys in the cot with her so if she loses one she can still find the other.

Hayden has a caterpillar too!!! He loves to give it a big smooch and bury his face in it, obviously has he falls asleep it falls away from his face but at 8mths I'm pretty sure he'd pull away if it was restricting his breathing in anyway. He also has a Paco blankie thingy that often ends up on his face but its not even possible for it to be heavy/tight enough to stop him breathing.

my neice used to have a palican (sp?) which she loved. it tied to the side of her cot so it meant she could cuddle it and cling on to it but even if she put it up tto her face it couldnt really stay there cos it pinged back when she let go, fell asleep or moved slightly. if your worried maybe find a way of connecting it to the side?

Jody sleeps with her glow worm but I take it away when I go to bed. She can move it to her and away from her easily so I don't feel it's a risk.
I guess it does depend on the size of the bear and other things that have been pointed out like the eyes and beads in the feet. Also if the fabric is easy to breath through.

We've had teddies in their cots from when both babies moved from the basinett to a cot - so they would have been around 4-5 months. We have an Angelcare monitor though and I have always rested in the knowedge that, shall anything happen, the alarm would go off.

She has a muzzy too (a muslin clothe that she gets wrapped in loosely when we put her down) and she loves to pull that over her face, which doesn't worry me as she can breathe through it but then she pulls the teddy up over the muzzy! She just loves having things over her face, she even does it when she is up and playing with her toys, its all a bit werid actually.

Arianne is developing a love for her first teddy which we got her at the hospital. She plays with it in bed and I dont find it a worry as it always falls to her side and is no where near her face.

She does however pulls the sheets up and over her face, maybe I will get her one of those teddy blankies and put a small amount of my body shop perfume, she seems to like it.

I think you'll be just fine so long as the hair isn't too long.

That pic is adorable! I don' have one of Issy but she ends up completely covered, so you can just see the top of her head.
