Topic: Its like... Posted: 31 January 2008 at 5:16am |
....Christmas morning all over again. Waking up super early because you know today is the day you get the pressies you've been wishing for all year.
Except today is probably more momentous as it's the day I hopefully get to meet my two daughters.
Since 28weeks I've been on week by week basis on when the bubbies will arrive. This is as a result of slightly smaller growth, reduced fluid and in the last few weeks reduced blood flow through the placenta to the wee bubs.
I got admitted @ 33weeks with the intention of doing a C-section 2 days later , however the logistics of neonates and 8 emergency c-sections that day got me bumped off the list. Before deciding what to do with me next, they sent me for another scan which showed all blood flow returning to normal again. I love confusing doctors
I then got kept in over the weekend and after a growth scan the following Tuesday I got sent home after everything looked perfect again.
Then I had a scan on Monday which the lady said 'oh everything looks fine'. For some reason, I didn't believe her, I could see myself that the blood flow looked the same as 33weeks when I got admitted last time.
So I packed my bags, laptop and wireless internet included, and came prepared for my clinic appointment on Tuesday. Lo and behold the Obstetrician informed me the time for babies has come.
So I'm scheduled in yet again for a c-section this afternoon. Even though I think today is the day, we shall see if it actually goes ahead this time. Doc says he's not doing any more scans and that babies are definitely coming out.
We've also told all friends and family that I'm in for more observation until the end of pregnancy and we're not sure when that may be. We told so many people in excitement last time , it proved a nightmare to update them all after. Both of our families are overseas so it was in the middle of the night for them.
I have to say I love the staff at Wellington hospital. They are so friendly and I got a huge 'welcome home' from some of them when I reappeared on Tuesday
Sorry for the long winded post but it has passed 40 minutes of my time, distracted me from the avalanche of snores coming from the other cubicles, and it's now only an hour before my 'last supper'.
