Topic: IVF Prediction Calculator Posted: 06 January 2011 at 2:10pm |
I read this on stuff this morning
http://www.stuff.co.nz/technology/digital-living/4514176/Odds-of-an-IVF-baby-Theres-an-app-for-that
Here is the calculator
http://www.ivfpredict.com/index.html
I have no fertility issues but would only score 42% chance of sucess!

Sorry but I think all these predictions are a load of crock.
You have a 50/50 chance of it working - the embryo either implants, or it doesn't! Simple!

I just did the test and mine was 36%, and our specialist just said today we have about a 40% chance of our FET working- apparently that's about the best we could expect... to be honest I haven't heard of anyone with odds for IVF much higher than that anyway, but as Maybeebaby said it's all down to chance...you can't go by other people's experiences no matter how much data they've compiled.

Hehe Rosiefarmer you got 1 more percent than I did!
Any chance is better than nothing. Good to be able to look at these things with a 'whatever' attitude or else we'd all be stark raving mad hehehe!

5 IVF/ICSI Cycles - 10 embryo's, 8 transfers, all BFN's.
Our journey to parenthood is over, and we join the unfortunate many for whom IVF does not work.

Rosie I was the same - yet clinic told me 33% with one, 50% with two... depends on what country the data comes from I guess.
Tischler - agree re the stark raving mad comment!

I got 32.4 % that worries me now as I thought our unexplained infertility might mean we had a slightly higher chance of our first IVF working, makes me sooo nervous now that it wont work!

Yeah, I scored about a 30 point something percent, but based on the questions I don't really think it's a very good indication. I don't even think the percentage doctors give you is anything to go by really.
Don't let it bother you Tiff, you have as good a chance of IVF working as anyone!

Okay here's something to contemplate. A lady I met last weekend told me she only has one child, he is now 9. She tried for years to conceive, and eventually managed. 12 months after he was born she was at a gyno who examined her cause she was having immense back pain and painful periods. He told her she had severely advanced endometriosis and she had to have her womb removed NOW. He was absolutely gob-smacked when she told him she had had a baby a year prior - according to him, there is no possible way she should have ever conceived.
So - just think of how many women are told they have next to 0% to conceive, and go ahead and have healthy children. God only knows it is THAT kind of happy story that keeps me positive and trying. I certainly don't need some stupid computer nerd trying to dash all my hopes, based on data that is very likely out of date anyway. Just think how much things have changed with IVF in the past year and keep your chins up! (or chin, depending on whether or not you have one, or multiple!!!)
