ohh congrats Sue - that is awesome.
4 hr labour - that is awesome. I wish I had that instead of the 36 hr contractions and then just under 5 hr labour.

Congratulations Sue and home this afternoon.. awesome!!

I agree with the not doing anything or making noise when I put Liam down.. I've just now put him down after a good feed and rocking him in my arms for 20 mins, I'm sitting here hoping for the best!

His bassinet was in the lounge until just now, but we've put it in his room where it's cooler and I'm using the monitor.. I think it will allow him to sleep better out of the heat in the lounge. FX!

Gosh I'm hoping to loose a lot of weight in the next few months.. I'm so busy tending to Liam that I forget the time! We have decided to go ultra healthy with our diet (I think the hospital food started me on it..) I've only had water to drink for the last week, no tea, caffeine or fizzy drink and I think it's working wonders, certainly on my skin which is really clear.

Anyway, I'm going to catch up on some TV, American Idol is first on the list... gotta love MySky

Huge congrats Sue - awesome news.

Really hope little Lachlan is doing okay!! And Mum and Dad of course!

Can someone help me with changing my boys cluster feeding times, we seem to be doing really well with feeding etc, he's a big boy so feeding every 2-3 hours which is fine but whats getting me is he is cluster feeding for 3-5 hours in the middle of the night which makes for a long night and then I have no energy for my toddler during the day. I need to get him to cluster feed in the evenings - has anyone else been through this and got any tips???

After Cooper not sleeping more than an hour at a time over the last 24 hours, I have just popped him on his tummy on the floor and he's been asleep for almost 4 hours and still going. Hmmm, maybe my boy is a tummy sleeper like me. Can't put him in a hammock on his tum though and don't think I'd be confident sleeping him on his tummy for night sleeps, I'm too paranoid he'll stop breathing that I'm watching him like a hawk at the moment

2ndBabyG I had that with DS, so we have worked to not let Lilah start doing it. The last 4 nights we have kept her up from 6pm until 9pm, and just let her doze. Because we dont wrap her and put her in her bed, she doesnt settle. She has 3 feeds in those 3 hours, then has her bath at 8.30pm, in bed by 9. It seems to work, she sleeps a 5-7 hour stint after that, then is only up for a very quick feed and nappy change (20mins) before she goes back down. I know it is really hard to get little babies into any routine, but if you can get them to have that cluster feed a bit earlier it seems to work. Good luck!!

I really hope little Lachlan is doing ok..........

Big big Congrats Sue!! That is awesome that you didnt have to be induced! Looking forward to some piccies!!

Speaking of piccies, here is one of our little munchkin

yay congrats Sue and welcome to baby Briannah!!!  That's awesome she came before your step-daughters go home, and before you had to be induced!

Cute pic, Rach!!

Gah what a day.  Had people coming and going, and Jett would not stay in his bed to have his nap (has finally gone to sleep now though).  He's really doing my head in at the moment and bringing me to tears.  Probably because I'm just so tired and he's hard work.  This morning I got up to find he'd poured another packet of milo onto the carpet (he did the same thing a few weeks ago).  It doesn't take much to vacuum it up, but it's a waste of  food and a hassle!  I don't know how he got hold of the packet either.  He doesn't listen to instruction - like how i tell him he's not allowed in my bedroom (where Ava's sleeping), but he'll still repeatedly go in there (even when the doors closed).  I have to take the key out of the door now and keep it locked.  But I hate doing that when it's been so hot and there's no air flow into the room when the door's closed.  I have the windows open and fan on in the room but it's still muggy.  So anyway, I'm consistantly telling Jett not to do the same thing, but he'll still go ahead and do it.  I thought by this age they'd be able to do as they're told!!

I think I need "The Nanny" to come in and help me deal with him.  He's exhausting and soo incredibly frustrating!

Ava on the other hand, is just a delight and so good.  Just as well, if I had her playing up, along with Jett I think I'd leave home.....

Italiah - I think he is reacting to his little sister and the fact he is no longer the baby in the family. There is a brilliant leaflet you can pick up at the doctors, called jealousy, which I found very helpful with Jared (also 2).

Good luck. Its taken to now to get my normal, loving boy back. He regressed in a massive way, and its taken a lot of positive reinorcement to get him to behave. We also found litlle things for him to do to 'help' with the baby. Hes not allowed to 'help' if we aren't there though.

Have faith. It will all be OK evenutally!!!

Heres something I didn't know, for later on...

Today's sleep tip - Dreamfeeds - once babies are over about 12 weeks, they can feed while they are asleep. So gently get baby out of bed at about 10pm, and do a full feed with baby sound asleep. So when YOU go to bed you know your baby's tummy is full.

Thanks kim... but he's actually been like this since well before Ava was born, so I know it's not her arrival that's making him behave like this.  I'm seriously thinking of putting him into kindy maybe 1 morning a week to give me a break and see if the teachers can assist with his behaviour in any way.

Congratulations Sue and well done baby for co-operating!

Had a hellish night last night, Liliana woke at 1am and didn't go back to sleep until after DP had gone to work. I have no idea what was up with her but she did NOT want to sleep. I think the heat may be unsettling her because she doesn't seem sick or anything......

Gosh Liliana is nearly a month old already!!! Time flys!

Hey girls, thanks for all the congratulations. Soooooo very happy to finally have our little girl here. She latched on pretty quickly after her birth and stayed that way for the next 1 1/2 hours! Then had a big sleep. Got home at 2pm and she fed again and has been asleep since she finished.    Pretty placid so far - wonder how long that will last? Will write up birth story later. Feeling pretty darned happy at the mo!

Congrats Sue on baby Briannah

well the Gaviscon worked a treat - insteadof 3 hours of unsettlediness we ony had an hour and she slept from 11.30pm till 6.45am so I feel so much better for putting her on it - I only do it the once (the night time one around 9.30ish) and seems to be helping with her burping the rest of the day so far. she's happy lying under her play gym so thought I would jump on here.

I had a GTT test today to see if my Gestational Diabetes has gone - I don't get the results yet but when i got home because I still have my blood tester i tested myself and was under the 8 so prett sure I am fine (better be I have been eating like I don't have it LOL)

Lilah is gorgeous rach - aren't all these jan babies the cutest!

Anouska - Rhyley has been rather trying lately and alot of it was happening before Elodie came along. He gets fustrated quickly and demans alot of attention especially Of DH. dinner time is a stressful time gettin ghim to stay at the table and eat something and TT is.... well lets not go there its just not happening!!!

Having said that he is soooo loving towards elodie and always telling me he loves her. When he is near her hes basically good - he can sometime get a little over bearing with her and seems to touch her face and head alot so trying to teach him to pat or touch her belly or back rathe than her face.

I must admit i enjoy it when rhyley goes to daycare to give me and the other kids a break. and he really enjoys it there too. And our kindy doesnt take them till they are round 3 and half years old and hes hanging out to go there (me too )

Anyhow Josh is on his dinner break from work and Elodie is grumpling on the mat so probably wants her mamma (although have to wait till dinner is almost done)

Everytime I log on there are another 10 pages to read so I have just given up on the idea of catching up on reading, maybe one day if I have time I will but at the moment I just want to get back into posting. Azrael is doing well but has crying periods every day that last hours - not sure if it is colic or reflux or what but during that time he just wants to be held the WHOLE time. I am formula feeding and I have found it much less tiring than breastfeeding, my DH and I take turns at night to get up and it has made a huge difference being able to get a nights sleep every second night. He was sleeping ok but the last few nights not at all so I don't know how I would cope if doing it every night.

Lilith has been really playing up a lot, she likes Azrael but doesn't like me paying attention to him and has been quite naughty. My patience is quite
thin but I am really trying to spend extra time with her so she doesn't feel left out. Thankfully she is going back to playschool next week (2.5hrs, 3
days a week). She loves it there and it will be good to give us a break as well. I start work again next week (only 20hrs though) which means DH takes
over as full-time carer for the two of them. Not looking forward to work but I can't afford to take any more time off.

Anouska, Lilith is 2.5 and just as naughty, never listens to what we tell her, I hope she grows out of this stage really fast! Its got to the point where I don't even want to take her anywhere because I know it is going to be a struggle.

Oh and the list is wrong, 'Coertze' is not Azrael's 2nd name, its his surname.

Will really try keep up with the forum from now on and hopefully get some time to read what has been happening.

Yay, congrats Sue! Glad everything went well.

Anouska- Isla is being an absolute terror at the moment.
She drives me nuts after like 1/2 and hr with her. Constantly trying to 'help' with Aiden which means wake him up, try to pick him up, etc etc. Thank goodness mum and dad have been helping heaps, plus she is now in daycare 9-3pm mon, wed, fri which we both need. The daycare teachers said her behaviuor has been perfect there, grrr!!

MW has been today. Aiden is now 4620g / 10lb 3oz! Gained 600gms since birth 2 1/2 weeks ago! So pleased with that. He has now had green poo for a week, but mw thinks he wouldnt be gaining weight like that if he was only getting foremilk, and the Paed is not concerned by the poo.

Aiden doesnt settle well in the afternoon, not going into a deep sleep, so wrapping him to me has been a godsend! We just got fabric and cut it to the right width and used websites to teach me the wraps. He falls asleep as soon as hes in it! Thought I would mention it as it might help someone else! Same as a moby wrap really- just a long peice of material, but didnt want merino in this heat, plus it was cheaper to just buy the right type of material. I have the info on what material, and the websites for instructions if anyone interested!

kellz i am totally interested in the wrap info you have.

and with regard to the green poo if bubs gets unsettled and screams and cries etc... it could be lactose overload - and babies do put on a lot of weight with the foremilk as it is high in sugar - Lucy always had green poo and put on heaps and heaps of weight was a right fatty but then she stopped sleeping and screaming etc... and ended up with full blown lactose intolerance which was hell until we got her sorted about 6 months even now we have to watch how much dairy she has or she gets a sore tummy and acid poo.
