My Mum who is very weary of most diets has just done 10 weeks of Jenny Craig and lost 8 kgs. She is now down to her goal weight and is on maintenance. She looks fantastic!

I did JC a number of years ago and chose the option where all meals were provided (frozen dinners every night)..It took a little getting used to having small portions but that was part of why I got fat in the first place haha

In the end, lost 20kgs but didn't stick right to the end to get to my goal weight which wasn't far off that. Ended up putting it all back on again quite quickly though and lost it again by another form of diet and haven't been back to that top weight since.

Its about $120 for the food which is not bad when I used to spend more than that going out a few nights a week.  The joining fee is $7 per week.  Its been great becuase I don' have to count calories or anything like that, its simply just grabbing the food out the freezer and it tastes nice!

Is that $120 for one weeks worth of dinners???? Or is that a week of all meals and snacks?

I must admit it seems very expensive!

does seem a bit expensive but I did hear that they have different programs and prices etc for each individual person. I'm going to them tomorrow to join up but hey if it work I am all for it - though DP won't be as he has been complaining on how much I have spent on diets. Tried Sureslim, weightwatchers and they all worked for a while and then I just kept going up and down around the weight.

JC was the nickname of a school i went to in Manurewa- south Aucks representing haha- most multiracial expeditions ive ever had; without leaving the gates of school...

Have you heard of herbalife or similar?

Who knew you could pop a pill to loose weight?

Fatness isnt funny aye? my DP thinks it is funny & you should see the warped pics hes got slide showing the screen saver at the mo- we disagree. I believe you cant help how your body make up is.

No matter how thin, skinny, slim, slender, fat, large, big, tall, height, short, small, wide, glide, black, brown or green you get what i mean- we all got something to loose
& nobody is perfect just an effect you need to get

Hope nobody minds what i just wrote & you can read between the lines.. or those friggen words & just get it

mu MIl is doing JC...its funny cause we go there for dinner and its a lovely roast and she microwaves some weird JC dinner... i dont hold much with diets myself. Unless you can change your eating habits permanently then the weight will just come back on. But do let us know how it goes....

I agree....I think it's why I like WW more...at least you learn to work with what you have and make changes that you can continue with.

$120 for all the meals isn't quite so bad though for one person it would still be double our weeks grocery bill!

well i have done ww, sureslim and herbalife. Sureslim was ok though VERY restrictive and I started getting severe headaches while on sureslim so I slowly started bring back potatoes etc and my headaches went. WW worked for a while and then I pretty much stayed at the same weight and that was deemed overweight. Herbalife didn't work though I haven't been on too long BUT I like my food too much and don't want to replace food for a shake so hence the reason I am trying Jenny Craig.

Agreed - not sure why I am reading this thread then!

My MIL is doing WW and my mum is doing SureSlim...both getting good results, especially my mum with SureSlim. But they are both serial dieters as well, which is why I am sceptical of any weight loss programme - if they were that good, why do they need to keep trying new ones?? I set my store by exercise, but I know that's not for everyone.

Mum has done JC before and it worked, but she put the weight back on again. I think it was great as a 'boost' start to her weight loss, she needed something to help her get going, IYKWIM.

I tried WW at one point, but I think I stuffed up the points because I was STARVING the whole time. Gave it up as DH was sick of me being hungry and in a bad mood.

Good on you ladies giving it a go though, good luck to you!

Definetly key to WW is using your points wisely! No use using them all up on bikkies foe example and leaving nothing for real food.

And I totally agree that in the end NONE of those diets are going to work without exercise! It's pretty basic really....calories in MUST be less than calories out. Of course most people miss this vital point and wonder why they plateau or go nowhere!

The other thing that I do think sets WW apart is that they have the maintance programme so really you can do it for life...it's very adaptable.

SureSlim seems very short term and I don't know what JC offers in the way of support once you have reached your goal?

Well despite what others say I am very pleased to be on it.  I have lost 2 kilos already while enjoying lovely food and not feeling like I am on a diet. I am not 'missing' out on anything and have a very supportive consultant.  As for exercise I do everyday anyway.

That's awesome Sunny - 2kgs! Brilliant!
I admit, I would love to have the food all prepared for me, and the other day I walked into my mum's friend's house and asked what the lovely smell was, and she said she'd just had a Jenny Craig dinner. yum!

Didn't mean to sound negative, sorry if it sounded that way. Just me rambling as usual. Good work on the weight loss! Keep it up!
