Ok, so I know it SAYS that you are picked randomly but does anyone actually believe that? I received summons in the mail today - this has to be at least the 6th time. Yet DH has never been summoned. I have never actually done it as every time has been bad for me, with work commitments, then Ashleigh etc so I'm wondering if you have been excused previously then they keep asking you? The main reason I'm feeling like that now is it is EXACTLY 2 years since the last time I was summoned - as Ashleigh was close to discharge from NICU and I got one of the paeds to write a letter for me ( she arrived home on the 6th Sept 06). So I'm wondering how much of this is a "coincidence" or they are just gonna keep bugging me till I do it lol! BTW I still can't do it as I have no one to look after Ash!!

This topic was bought up a few weeks ago on here saying the exactly the same thing!

I don't think its random at all knowing how many times I have been called up in comparison to DH - he's never been called up!!

I haven't been called up in 8 years now. Last time I was excused when I got there as I was undergoing intense physio and had a letter from them.

My mum was last called up in 1995 and at the time was in a Coma. She never got called up again, we joke they think she died.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

OMG peachy, it's seriously not random, considering the post you put in my thread!!!!

That's all you'll need to write, Kelly. Say that DH cannot take time off work to take care of Ashleigh, and it would cause serious inconvenience to your family etc etc etc.

I was thinking of this thread the other day when .....
DH and I received letters calling us both up for jury duty at the same time. As we are the only two people on the whole of NZ with our last name how random can that possibly be!!!!!
