Topic: Kids on pregnancy, birth and babies Posted: 02 May 2008 at 11:23am |
Feel free to add your funny stories. Here's a couple of mine.
Very early on in my pregnancy before I started showing I was at Kmart with my nephew rough and tumbling while his mum was trying on jeans. She came out of the changing room and immediately told him off “be careful of the baby”. Mr (almost) 4 looked at me perplexed so I asked him “where’s the baby?” “It’s at your house” he replied “in the wardrobe”.
Later in the pregnancy, when I was getting really big I had my niece and nephew to stay for the weekend. They’d last stayed a few of weeks earlier and my bump had grown alot since.
We were standing at the checkout of Countdown when Mr 4 announces in a very loud voice “Aunty Jo you’ve got fat”. Everyone’s staring at us at this point and DH and Miss 5 jump to my defence saying “she’s not fat it’s just the baby”. I turned to Mr 4 with a wink and said “it looks like I’m fat though doesn’t it”. To which he responded (still in a loud voice) “yeah, but you’re not fat - you have a fat baby”.

When I was pregnant with Keziah the step kids used to rub my belly every night before bed and say their good nights awww heart melt material they still do the whole good night thing now except it's to her.. not my belly
Seth used to lie with his head on my belly, and once quite late in my pregnany he said 'it sounds as if the baby is bouncing off the railings of a wrestling arena' LOL cuuuute

jack would come and rub my belly, then give it a kiss. he'd always say 'goodnight baby' before he went to bed.
then when i was almost due, he kept telling the baby to come out and play

Miss almost 4 tells everyone she meets "my mummy has a baby growing in her tummy" She gives my belly a kiss most nights too.
She goes around with a soft toy under her top, and says that her baby is going to come out soon - then it "pops" out of her tummy lol

my nephew (5) knows that i'm trying to have a baby and he asked me a few weeks back if i was going to have one soon. i said "no, not yet".
his answer ... "my mum was right then - you are getting fat!"
haven't told my sister what he said yet!

Caitlyn drew a picture of me at school, of me with my new baby .
She used to say really funny things about it when she was little, but i cant remember any of them haha.
the other night she informed me that if i have a baby boy (one day) she will kick it out the window and run away.
Oh thats right, i do recall her saying something about women eating cheese then they have a baby in their tummy , not sure how she figured that

When I was preg with the gremlins, Maya came with me to the scan where we found out they were twins, I was in total shock and I kept saying over and over "OMG, I'm gonna die!"
Went to drop Maya off at preschool immediately after and she announced to everyone in a loud voice, "there are TWO babies in my mummy's tummy and she's going to DIE!" Way to let the news sink in!
The other day Mercedes was sitting on me patting my tummy (I've never talked to them about the baby, they are too little to get it) and I took the opportunity to say to her "there's a bubba in mummy's tummy 'Cedes." Her response? "Woof woof!"

When the midwife was listening to the heartbeat we asked Charlotte(18months approx at the time) "what is that we can hear darling?" she paused for a second and said "sounds like a doggy"!!! Midwife burst out laughing and said she would ever think of the heartbeat the same way again. I am pleased to say we had a wee boy, fortunately there was no doggy in there!!!
Emma, Charlotte and Mercedes must be on the same wavelength!!

I remember mercedes asking me where fay's penis was when she came with me for a nappy change once. fay must be broken cos alize had one. so i explained that Fay was a girl and that Mercedes didn't have one for that reason too. Mercedes looked at me like i was stupid and said that little girl penises fell off and that all babies had one so Fay was broken. I think she was about 6 then wasn't she kels/

These stories are so gorgeous!! I don't have any pregnancy kid stories but I did teach new entrants for a couple of years and some of the things 5 year olds say are pretty cute. I remember one time (I think it was a wet lunchtime and all the kids were inside eating) I didn't hear the whole conversation, but one little voice piped up 'my mummy and daddy got me when I was a baby and turned me into a kid'. I thought that was cute. There's lots more little comments but it's too late to think of anymore right now

LOL NeoshasMummy hahaha!!!
I'm sure I read that in the mag too and laughed out loud!
No funny stories here to share, although I have been asked several times in the past year when my next baby is due, a little girl in particular that we bumped into at farmers in the toy section. She must have been 6 or 7ish, she was talking to Lucas and then she gave me the once over and asked 'When are you having another baby?' ...I gritted my teeth and politely replied ' Not for a long time sweetie', quickly got the pram and went on my way. Sadly tis not the first time this has been asked and Lucas was around 9 months old at the time. Even adults have asked.
Thankfully the stomach is shrinking now though....phew

When I was about 5 months preggers with Brayden, Nathaniel (then 3 1/2yrs) asked me how the baby got in my belly. I didn't want to tell 'stork' stories but also didn't want to confuse him being so young so this is what I said "Daddy has a special seed called sperm that he gives to mummy who mixes it with her special egg in her tummy. When daddys seed and mummys egg mixes together it makes a baby and grows in mummys tummy for a very long time till its big enough to be born. When its time for the bubba to be born it will make mummy want to push it out and the baby comes out of mummys fanny."
Nathaniels reply "How does the daddys seed get into your belly to mix with the egg? Do you swallow it mum?"

When we told Andrew he was getting a little brother he was all excited and the next day at daycare he walked in and said my mummy is giving me baby brother.

None of my kids had anything funny to say really - with Rhyley they were that much older. I just remember Josh saying baby is taking a long long long time to get here to play .. sometimes now i am sure if I could put her back he would make me - love lil sister
One funny thing - and this is to make fun at myself - when i heard froma friend about the birds and the bees I was straight home to ask my mum if it was true.... after mum explained it to me (and my brother hiding under then table not wanting to hear it - he is 2 years older than me LOL ) I said to my mum - 'ewwww and you had to do it twice!' LMAO... oh the innocent mind!
