Topic: Labor story and PIcs of JaXon Posted: 14 September 2006 at 5:38pm |
Hey all.
Ok where to start?? Tuesday morning 5th September 330am I woke with cramping pains, quite uncomforatble and went to the toilet and when I wiped there was a pink stained fluid. yay I thought it was my show then rang the hospital cos I wasnt sure if it was normal (hehe). Glad I rang cos they said if head was not engaged and my waters had broken then I needed to get in hospital incase of infection.
I trickled a bit while getting orgainised to go and after getting out of teh car then it just started gushing out. Luckily I had pads on. It just kept going. Got into delivery room to toilet and more came. I felt like I was wetting myself majorly. Definately the waters.
Anyway no contractions and just lay there talking to Glenn getting really nervous. 8am came and the doctors came round and decided to do internal. Babys head was still no where near engaged. We just waited and waited and the doctors decided to put some gel up my cervix to try and get things started. I think I started getting light contractions about dinner time. It was not too bad just really uncomfortable. They did another internal and still not much progress just the cervix softening. They decicided to get a bit stronger and were like 5 mins apart. They transferred me into anotehr room for over night waiting until morning where they were going to give me some drug that would bring labor on more quicker. We got to the room and after about half an hour the pain just got worse and unbearable. Also 3 mnis apart. They thought here we go your getting very close, so went back into delivery suite.
They gave me some more pethadine but did not help too much. Contractions were strong and very painful. I asked formore pain relief and got given gas to suck on while contracting, then the shower which did not help me at all. I then had another intenal and was only 6 cm dilated. Babies head kept popping back up high after every contraction.
midnight came round and then they gave me n epidural. Praise the Lord. Next time I am definately am going to have an epidural right from the start. No way would I go without.
It didnt hurt at all then I couldnt even feel the contractions. My legs were so numb and fuzzy haha. Great thing an epidural. I was so against drugs etc but when the time came that all changed, lol.
Anyway they monitored me and nothing much happened. had a sleep and got woken by midwife looking all concerned. Jaxons heart rate went down to 50bmp. They got more nurses coming in and I started crying asking if he was ok. They put me on an oxygen mask. His heart rate finally came right again. phew!! It was so horrible. The doctor came and explained to me I would need an Emergency C-Section in which of course I agreed to. Off to theatre it was. I was shaking so much cos I was so nervous. Anyway had C-section at 5am and Jaxon was introduced at 5.10am. Glenn and I just cried with happiness. It was an amazing experience.
The next two days my Bp was great and back to normal. It was frustrating though cos I couldnt move very well and when Jaxon Cried or spewed I could not get up to help him. He even choked once and was changing colour. I rang emergency bell and noone cane so I yelled. It was horrible. They had to take him to nursery to clear his airways. What a horrible experience. If I could have got up he probably would not have choked so much.
OK nearly at the end...... Friday morning came and doc said I could go home. Yay.
Got up slowly, packed things then started going dizzy anf faint. Lay down and started seeing double. Buzzed the nurse and she took my bp etc and it was high. She kept taking every 5 mins or less and it kept going up and up. Took me into the theatre room where they gave me magnesium through my body and all these other drugs. I started to shake heaps and they thought I was having an eclampisa fit. The big doctor came in and heaps of other people. It was scary. My body started drifting away. I thought I was dying . Icouldnt even talk. My whole body started to feel like hot water flushing thru it and vision nearly gone etc etc. Home Tuesday night yay.
Getting used to being a mummy.

Hey Kells- Congratulations on the arrival of little Jaxon- finally.
I TOTALLY agree about the epi- why don't they just give it to you from the start instead of pethadine and the rest of it... Stupid I think.
Anyways- Dad looks so proud and I bet you are to. Good to hear you survived it all.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
