Before I go spending lots of money online while I'm at home with nothing to do I thought that I should get some advice...

I've purchased Fuzzis and some PeaPods so far and is it worth spending some money on liners for them? The obvious benefit is it would probably help a bit with the life of them and staining maybe.

Then if so what is better.. the disposable ones or washable?

Also, I was told by someone that boosters for pocket nappys are best if they are of a different material to the insert. Like using hemp etc with microfleece insert. Is this true?

I don't know what's 'best' as such, but I use disposable liners and they work for us. I've never really seen the point of washable liners coz for me it's all about being able to ditch the 'yucky' part and just wash the nappy.

Hehe even before I read Emma's post I was going to say that I use washable liners and it really doesn't make a difference to the work load since you are washing it all anyway. Take that with a pinch of salt if you like, since I have been using FB since Briona was 1 and only just starting out with a newborn.

You can buu buy flushable liners for about $10 per 100, that way you can flush the yukky bit?

i wash my liners too, its a lil yucky at the moment with charli's poo, but its not too bad. i got 10 for $9 on TM but just got 1m of microfleece to make more...$6!

i use micrfibre inserts on their own during the day and with a hemp booster for long trips/nights

I've used both and for me, the washable liners have worked better.
Ben's poo wasn't been that hard to wash off and now that he is on solids its easy as to tip it into the loo and wash the liners with the rest of the nappies.

at the moment i am not using any liners - tried some but it wasnt worth the extra effort to get them to fit, as the nappies jordis is in are soo small. I just put my finger over the tap to get a high pressure squirt, and squirt the poos off. any stains left over are always bleached away in the sun, havent had any stubborn ones yet. if one day on the line isnt enough i leave them out overnight, and it does the trick.
When she is on solids i will probably start using them again though, so i can either flush or burn the poos without having to handle them. But for now, it looks like homemade hokey pokey so i doesnt offend me.

i would be worried that the microfleece liners would "wick" moisture out of the nappy? having to make sure it is all tucked in would just mean some of the poos would get on the nappy, which defeats the purpose...

disposable liners have a paper like feel to me and some of the commercial liners like the johnsons arent flushable, some people do but they can block toilets if you arent careful. i occasionally use washable ones but generally only to protect my nappies if i am putting cream on too. if your only reason for using them would be to stop stains then washable ones are better. i found the flushable ones let a lot thru to the nappy anyway (i just finished trialing some free flushable tots bots liners from   nappy days)

Yep, I learnt the hard way that the Johnsons ones aren't flushable

My girls have absolutely revolting 'output' coz of the formula they are on - it's black and sticky like tar, so would ruin my nappies.

Ok... so I haven't had 'output' like Emma described from Hannah - which is a good reason to use liners... but otherwise I'd not bother. Just sheer laziness again. (And a good excuse to buy more naps )

But yes to the inserts. I'd say it is good to have a combination of fibres as they act in different ways and complement each other nicely
