Ok here's what my cleaning book says: (no responsibility taken yada yada) Hope it helps

Grease is the major ingredient in lipstick so attack that first.

For Clothes:
Use a spot remover if possible. Lay the stain facedown on an absorbant cloth. Apply the spot remover to another clean white cloth and then blot from the inside of the garmet to push the stain out.

To remove the last traces of the stain blot with a solution of 1/4 tsp clear liquid dishwash detergent and 1/2 cup cold water using a clean white towel. Then wash item as directed. If that does not remove the stain completely follow the same technique but use a solution of 1 tsp ammonia (I have no idea where you would find this sorry) and 1/2 cup cold water.

For Carpets:
***Always apply cleaning solutions to a towel never directly onto the carpet.***

Blot with Nail polish remover then rinse thoroughly.
Then use commercial spot cleaner and rinse thoroughly.

If that fails then use the same dishwash solution as above for the clothes.

Or try - 1 cup white vinegar to 2 cups water with warm water rinse.

My little brother did a study on the most effective carpet cleaners for his science fair project and found that for grease Cavilier Bremworth works the best.

Hey sorry for the delay in getting back - have just had our second child, so things rather crazy here

We've managed to get some of it out, found that the Cavilier Bremworth was the strongest in getting out the larger ones. The smaller stains have also faded.

Thanks for all the suggestions :)
