Topic: MB Swift vs Urban Jungle Posted: 18 November 2012 at 11:39am |
Hi team,
I am 100% on getting a Mountain Buggy, and was wanting the Urban Jungle, but after actually seeing them, my partner was a little more keen on the smaller swift. There is only 4cm's in the width, but more in the length.
Our baby is already 'growing well' and we are reasonably tall both sides of the family.
The swift seems to move and react a little quicker with a wee swing around in the shop, but I am concerned the smaller size isn't going to last as long...
any input would be great!

we had a mountain buggy swift and I loved it. My son fit it really well until he had a growth spurt and almost outgrew it(he suddenly went from 50th percentile to 91st), probably around the 18 month mark was when it became noticeable. We actually started getting comments that he was almost too big for it which convinced dh we needed a new pram, especially as I like to walk lots. We got a new pram when he was about 22 months old and it's great. If you suspect you might have a tall child then I wouldn't buy the swift. It's a great pram but not made for above average height children. He still had plenty of room width wise when he grew out of it. If you want a pram a similar size to the swift you should have a look at the baby jogger mini gt. Its same width, good maneuverability, great height/length, and easier to put down the swift. We actually sold our swift to an old friend who is very tall and so is her partner. She really wanted a swift so her plan is once her child outgrows it they'll buy a new one.

I had an Urban. But the older model, like 2006 and found it was great for my nearly 3 yr old.
I'd go for whatever option you can use longer term.

Hey Peppermint we decided on the UJ and it arrived last week as you know and is the new model too.
We do a fair chunk of walking and live 5mins from a beach and did a test run with a friends UJ and we loved it - yes the tyres are bigger as is the overall size but I am 100% confident we will love this stroller.
My only niggle will be it doesn't have mesh at the back for good airflow and the colours are, well, a bit dull. The colour range of Swift is great but wasn't enough to not go ahead with the UJ.
I have also heard that taller babies can outgrow the Swift quite quickly too but the UJ has the extra length and canopy height I understand which for us will be good as bub is going to be tall.

We have a really tall toddler, and now he's 16 months I'm relieved that we went with UJ rather than the Swift as I tried him in a Swift a few months back and he looked too big for the buggy and grizzled a lot being squished in there... We go everywhere with ours and I have a cheapy umbrella pram to through in the car for the quick trip to the shops, and when he was really young if I didn't want to take the buggy out, I'd front pack him
