   Hi.
I have just found out i am pregnant with number four, my youngest just 10 months old.
My last midwife i did not really like as she wasn't as supportive at the birth as i thought she was going to be, she was saying little remarks about how i wasn't doing etc and that is not what someone wants to hear when in labour lol

I was hoping someone could recommend a good midwife? one that is a go of the flow type

My midwife was Andrea Smith, and I love love love her, her number is 542 3063, 027333 1371, she's very supportive and relaxed. and was brilliant during my first birth that was a prolonged labour ending in a ceaser. She is from Papamoa and has clinics there, at the Mount and at Greerton.
Her backups are Shelley Edwards and Linda Steadman, Linda birthed my second and she was amazing, she also does home visits instead of clinics which I know some people like. She was so great during the birth, I know other people have had her and find her great, my husbands cousin had twins and the dr tried to make her have a c-section but Linda supported her decision to birth naturally with no probs, she will also happily birth breechs if she can.

Hiyah I'm not sure who your last mw was, but I have had Leigh O'Neill twice now. She's awesome. Lovely lady, really laid back.
However, I haven't had her for a birth (yet!). She was away for my first, and I had her back ups (Sally Johns and Pat Shanks - who are both lovely and very supportive during labour/birth).
 They're at Bay Births in Bethlehem 07 5792422 and 021 2867722
 Best of luck |

I had Vicky Muller for my last 2 births and found her absolutely fantastic, totally goes with the flow and when she was worried about something kept it to herself and told me after the birth lol, shes at the Bay Midwifery centre on Fraser St. I have her back up this time as Vicky is on holiday when im due and Lisa Mconie is really nice, hopefully she will be good when i have bubs.

The ladies from Bay Births are awesome. I had Pat Shanks and then was transferred to Debbie Stevens because Pat had a family emergency and had to travel overseas. I think over my 9 months I saw all of the ladies at one time or another.

again for Bay Births - Leigh O'Neill - absolutely great - I was induced at 38 weeks due to pregnancy diabetes - there is a thread around re peoples induction experiences and by the sounds of it mine was one of the best. I noticed while I was being induced she got on great with all the other nurses and obs, they definetly had respect for her and listened to her calls - unlike my poor sister who I visited during her labour in the hosptal, her midwife and the nurse were arguing and when the midwife left the room the obs was discussing wth the nurse how he could not believe the decisions the midwife had made

I had Shelley Edwards for my second and she was fantastic. Got the VBAC I wanted and don't think it would have happened without her great support. Good Luck   |
