A cariboo will last much longer and you can also transition from bassinette to cot by hanging it inside the cot so the baby gets used to his "new environment", we loved ours and have just finished using it for number two, such a great investment.
Mummy to Issy (3) and Elias (18 months)
I did it .. 41 kgs gone! From flab to fab in under a year LFs weight blog
Love the cariboo - had it in the cot and he stayed in it for ages longer than other babies were in their moses basket. It's good being able to have motion as a possible sleep aid and we had one end raised for our reflux baby. I'm fully intending to use it with this next one if i can evict the first baby!
We also took it with us when we went away and propped up the sides with cushions so when he was in it it looked the same with the sides up.
I have a gentle motions and love it. Easy to put DD to sleep with although her dad was the one that had the patience to rock her not me lol She's still in it now at 3.5mths but we will be putting her in the cot soon as she is getting to be a heffalump and starting to not fit in it. And I just realised how you can have the bassinet on an angle while still being able to use the angel care monitor lol having a moment
we went for the baby trenz moses basket :)
we have friends who went for the cariboo and are selling it now as they don't want to use it for the next child.
we decided on the moses basket as its easier to move around the house, plus you can put the moses basket into the cot when they need to transition.
We had the cariboo gentle motions and it was great - we sometimes rocked X to sleep when all else failed and he is now nearly 6 months and still fits in it. We used our phil and teds carry cot thingee that goes in the buggy for the first few weeks as X liked the closenessof the sides and it was easy to move around the house.
I would definitely go for the Cariboo over a moses basket.
We have DD in one at the moment - on a stand in our room. We are hoping to have DS out of his cot in the next month or two so she can have the cot. I love how you can hang it in the cot for transitioning.
Friends of ours had a moses basket for their little girl and she grew out of it in just a couple of months, whereas we can use the Cariboo for a good 5 months or so.
I also have the P&T cocoon which we can use if we ever need to take her out at night.
I have both my girls in the gentle motions bassinet inside the cot, wish I had my son in it from the start. Much easier for settling grump tired babies.
