Topic: Mountain Buggy - Swift or Urban Jungle? Posted: 05 June 2011 at 4:19pm |
Hi there,
We're looking to buy our first pram in the next month or two (baby due Sept) and seem to have narrowed ourselves down to either the Mountain Buggy Swift or the Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle. Anyone have either of these and can offer some advice?
The Swift is attractive because it's that much smaller so seems like it will be much easier to manuevre in shops etc, but the Jungle attracts because it seems a little more sturdy and with it's bigger size seems more likely to be easily accommodate him until he's a toddler - we've seen photos of a one year old in the Swift and it already looked like it was getting a little cosy!
Thanks :)

I haven't tried the Swift, but we have the Urban Jungle and totally love it. It makes easy work of roughish terrain (I use it more of the time in the city, and thought perhaps it was overkill, but have found that it makes walking anywhere a lot smoother). I do use it on Mum and Dad's farm too. Jacob's got heaps of room - again, I can't compare the two, only say that ours works great.
If only I could fit two babies in it! We're going to have to trade it in
ETA that I have an umbrella stroller I take into town when I'm shopping because it would be a hassle - but I don't know if the Swift would be that much better... it's still bigger than an umbrella stroller and they're cheap and easy to keep in the car for trips to shops.

We have an Urban and it's been the best thing for lots of outdoor walking. I personally wouldn't have wished it any smaller, somehow you get by in shops. I'm not a huge shopper though, DS is not patient enough - typical boy.
If you do a lot of mall shopping, how about a cheap umbrella stroller?
Sounds like you might regret the Swift if your son grows out of it quickly.

We have an urban here too and LOVE it! But we also have an umbrella stroller for when we are out at the shops because it is easier but in saying that we do take the mountain buggy if she needs a sleep while we are out.

I thikn we're going to get the Urban because it's built better for excercise. I'm planning to do a few walks & then runs (heres hoping!) and the Urban has rear suspension, 12in tyres (vs 10in on the Swift), longer handle height(by 5cm), and 4cm longer wheel base.
The advantages of the Swift are that it's light & compact.

I wish we could swap our swift for an urban jungle just for its size. If dh would agree then I would sell the swift and buy an urban jungle.
I love the swift, fits everywhere, even shops where I see other prams struggling, its light, great manoeuvrability, doesn't struggle on any terrain. Only thing I don't like is ds is exactly 50% on plunket charts for a 7 a month yet is almost near the top of the pram.

I love our swift - I have a tiny car though so it was the only MB that would fit in the boot! DS is 86cm and 13kg and still fits no problem
