Topic: My baby just had plastic surgery!! Posted: 02 June 2006 at 11:29am |
Hi friends, just wanted to share with u the events of the past 48hrs. Wednesday afternoon, I sat down to a late lunch (at 2ish) of homemade chicken casserole when I spotted Jack (20mths) dragging a chair over to see what hubby was doing outside and within 2secs, he fell, screamed and all I saw was blood!!!! Lots of it, luckily hubby had also witnessed the accident, I didn't panic and just told him, grab the phone and call the amubulance. Jack had managed to puncture a large hole in the side of his face and it just bled like u wouldn't believe. It felt like forever for the ambulance to arrive but the saw the hole, said grab ur stuff, we're off to the children's hospital. Jack was hysterical for a while until he eventually crashed out on me. The hospital staff were great, he got seen by the doctor, they put an iv line in his hand and gave him morephine just so the dr could ascertain whether it had gone right thru and his teeth were damaged. The doc then referred him to the plastic surgeon who again checked him and said that as it was a cosmetic case, he would have to take him to theatre and stitch it up as it was in a bad area. Hence he starved while we waited for the op and blow me down if they decide at 9pm not to do it as the operating theatre was tied up with emergencies, thank god then they allowed him to eat. I got so full in the boobs that for the first time ever, I had to express off.
To cut a long story short, he had plastic surgery done yesterday morning and now has stitches and glue to hold it all together. He is coping really well, it doesn't seem to bother him much which is good. Look after our precious kids - they are so fast!!! My baby will have a scar now but he is still my poppet and we love him.
Bye for now, Gaye

how scary for you all. Im glad to hear he doesnt seem to be bothered by it. Man it all happens so fast doesnt it. When the stitches are out rub a little rosehip oil onto the scar as often as possible, the massaging helps stop a lump forming and the oil was recommended to us by the hospital when kobe had his cleft lip repaired and you cant even tell now.

Well done for keeping your head! I couldn't imagine what I would have done, hopefully the same thing.
I'm glad to hear he will be fine, with a scar to add character! Big hugs to you all!
