I was silly enough to think I would be ok working up until my due date thinking that I had been really well and so I would be fine and that a first baby never arrives on time. So now I'm finishing at 38 weeks - all I need to do now is convince my midwife to put me on sick leave for the next 5 weeks

Yay Toni, and as you know, here was me thinking you were going to finish at 38 weeks like me - then today I discovered your other crazy plan !! Glad you'll at least have a little time off though, because there are NO guarantees in life and I reckon if you hadn't moved your dates your bubs would have decided to come early And don't hesitate to take more leave if you decide you need to, and get your midwife to back you up like mine has.

Wow, i really dont know how you all manage to work so long. I finished at 33 weeks and had only been working 3 days for a few weeks before that! I guess if I didnt have a physical job I would have worked longer, but I take my hat off to you all...

Aimee the only thing that's keeping me here is the money - If I had more leave owing to me I'd definitely take it and finish up earlier ahh well, better than not being able to take any leave at all I guess.
Also I hope it will put rest to my fear of going into labour at work I had a dream that I did and I had to go tell my boss that I needed to leave early for the day but I didn't want to tell him why

you mean only 28 more day sitting on the ball?....LOL
Good on you. I worked up untill I was 39 weeks and like you stayed only because I knew I would get bored at home and needed the money. Thank God Zaara arrived on her due date.......
I had leave owing to me but used it after my 13 weeks ended. I could not leave my baby soooo soon. When are you returning to work? are you returning to work?

*still bouncing on ball and avoiding cameras*
The plan at this stage is 10 days annual leave, 14 weeks paid parental leave, 3 months part time (tues/wed/thurs) and then back at work full time after the christmas holidays - That is, unless we win lotto in the meantime lol
Work have been fantastic and have said that they will work around what I want (within reason). So, if we think our finances can handle me staying on 3 days a week part-time rather than 5 days a week full time we might extend that.
I'm also lucky to have my mum here who has offered her services as a Nannying Nanny for when I do work, free of charge. If it weren't for that I think we would be royally screwed with our finances!

I have my Aunt who looks after Zaara and she never asked for money...how ever we do pay her ...not much (compare to Day care) but enough. But I am happy that Zaara is being looked after by some one I trust, some one who will love her and take care of her properly. I would have gone nuts if I had to put her in Day care in such a small age.
You are soooooo lucky Toni that your mum has offered to look after bub. My mum and Dad have a mortgage and both work.....

Mum and Dad have emigrated (with my sis and her fiance and their dog lol) to NZ just last month all because I'm pregnant with their first grandchild. The money they made on their house sale in the UK means that Mum doesn't need to work anymore - so lucky! lol
