Topic: myspace vs youtube - which is best Posted: 20 November 2006 at 8:53pm |
Im thinking of doing a website thingy seeing as my sister is going overseas in January and I know some of you ladies use these sites to keep in touch with family, which one do you reckon is best or is there another I should look at? And is it just me or has photobucket gone all weird? I wanted to download some photos to show everyone and its all changed and Im not sure how to do it now.

I don't know for sure... but I don't think you tube and myspace are even remotely the same type of thing???
I wouldn't use myspace if I were you... unless you are quite familiar with writing HTML. I'd go with something more template-y like Bebo
And youtube... you could still upload vids onto there and then put them on your Bebo account if you want? (You can do that on myspace too... just have to write out the link for it)

And I get a whole heap of errors on myspace which drive me nuts.
Oh... and a lot of spamming going around there too.
In short, I only recommend myspace for band/music related stuff.

For photos my friend in England sends them to me via ringo. The only thing with ringo is other people can see your photos as well if they do a search for something. Eg flower and you have a photo of a flower with your children.

Thats good to know thanks Nikki, I just found a link thing under the photobucket to create a myspace template and thought it must have been the same sort of thing. So what else does everyone use apart from photobucket to download photos so you can put them on here for example

I use Ringo which is fine... but it sends out annoying reminders to my hotmail contacts all the time!
*Apologies to people on here who get them!*
And the myspace thing... a lot of photo sites now have a link with myspace where you just enter your myspace details in and it creates a slideshow on your page for you. Which is cool, unless you don't know how to remove it!

You can load photos on to blogs from the blog site... I am unsure about posting the pics from there, you might need a photo host as well.
Hold there.. I'll just check!
Yep! You can

I load photos using kodak gallery, you can make up albums and only the person you send the link to can view the photos.
very quick and easy

I used to use my online images to put photos on here but then mike deleted all our cookies and temporary internet files and the password got deleted and for the life of me i just can't get back in there! so now i just use one that mike does.. it's good cos there's no sign in, you just upload and get the code and away you go.. but annoying cos you have to upload each time.. you have no file to go back and find pics you have previously uploaded... oh and you have to have it the right size before uploading it cos i don't thinks there's any editing.

I have all my photos in an online album from http://www.webshots.com/
This is an example of what the albums look like
Example
The only thing I didn't like about bebo is that your friends have to register just to look at the album, whereas with webshots you can send a link to the album they can look at straight away.
If you were to use webshots, note that you don't have to download any software to upload the photos...just select the "simple PC upload" option instead.
