    Posted: 20 March 2008 at 8:25pm
read a book at uni, by an NZ writer. it's about this single mother who has about 8 kids i think, by different dads and the kids are named after the cities in which the father's come from. she tried to "collect" countries. i can remember the twins - one called Limerick. and they all live on an island and very rarely go in to town
and at the end she kills herself and you find out that the children are all figments of her imagination

Anyone can help me "name that book"????

it's bugging me.

Do you want me to search the Massey library???

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Google says - from this link

"She [Marilyn Duckworth] resurfaced in grand style, winning the New Zealand Book Award for Fiction with Disorderly Conduct (1984). This is vintage Duckworth, set in 1981 during the Springbok tour, its heroine, Sophie, afflicted by a mysterious ailment, trying vainly to juggle various lovers against the competing demands of her several children by different fathers"

Could that be it?
