Ava has 2 car seats - a convertible in mine and a capsule in Matts.

She is getting too big for the capsule - so what is next? Another convertible car seat? What are the other options.

AND do i need to move her convertible seat to an upright position in my car (Matt thought she needed to be in a rearward facing upright position now) or can it stay lying down?

She is about 8.5kg and 7 months old.

Ideally babies should be rear facing till a year old. It's to protect them in an accident. However, our carseat says that they *can* be forward facing from 8kg onwards.

I am pretty sure that if they are rearwards facing, the car seat should remain in the fully reclined position.

As an aside, Ava has done so well with her weight since we were last chatting. Well done!!

Rear-facing and reclined until one year, to protect them from serious neck injury.

HI
I've got a brio car seta and it got really good safety rating (one of the best in the world) It is rearfacign adn slightly reclined not much. They shoudl stay rearfacing for as loing as possible. Mine goes up to 20kg because in a carcrash their spines are not as strong as ours and need the extra protection that travellign backwards in a 5 point safety belt gives.

I highly recommend the carseat I have iot is awesome, very easy to move from one car to another. Only takes me 3-5min depending on the car.

We will definately get another one exctly the same for baby number 2.

Yep, if its rear facing . the seat should be reclined (not in an upright position) .. im pretty sure it should be the only way it will "fit" too

Oh and when we bought a second seat .. we just purchased another convertible (as we figured we could always use it for number two when Issy outgrew it)
Mummy to Issy (3) and Elias (18 months)

I did it .. 41 kgs gone! From flab to fab in under a year LFs weight blog
