Topic: Need some gift ideas Posted: 10 February 2010 at 9:18pm |
For my nana,
She is the most amazing lady! She has helped me out of so many messy patches over the past 7 years, and she still helps us with things for the kids and food for the cuboards etc
I know i could never pay her back all the money she has spent on me/us over the years, and she wouldnt take it anyways...
I love her so much and she is like a mum to me as well as my nana, she is so generous and thoughtful, like tonight I get a text from her saying she has put $200 in my account for my warrent a rego!!
I would like to do something for her, something really special, keeping in mind we dont have a lot of money. I am quite good at creating things though..
Ive been trying to think of something to do, and have come up with a few things, but thought Id rack your brains for some idea's too!
She likes her garden and baking, she plays bowls and has a GREAT sense of humor! I her so much! She also adores Isabella and Caden!
Any idea's would be very much appreciated
TIA!

What a honey!
What about making her something on snapfish, you can make heaps of cool things that she would love showing off to her friends.

Maybe a scrap book/photo album of your kiddies and include some photo's of her with them as well...? Or just the family in general.
You could try put together a baking recipe book for her?
You could nominate her for Mucking In the tv show...

Ohh good idea's
She would love a book of photo's of all the family, and a recipe book sounds brilliant!
What would be cool is if I could do a handful of things that are not too pricey and do up a gift basket for her.
Thanks for the link hannibal, its great!

let her babysit LOTS....hahah.
You could do a gift basket and gather one item each week with supo shopping and adventually you'll get there.
But I think the photo book would be way cooler!

As she loves her garden get her some seeds for it. Do them up in a basket with a few other garden things.
Make your own great nana brag book of the kids.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Actually the garden gift basket idea sounds really good!! Seeds aren't too expensive and compost is usually about $12 for 3 bags at the Warehouse isn't it? You could all pop round and help her with the gardening one day too! I know my grandma loves it when we do that!
Ooh! Or you could set up a little space in her garden where your kids have a space so she could do gardening with them like a vege or flower patch, obviously your little girl is a bit too young but Caden might be old enough

What about a photo book with photos of all of you?
I know that Snapfish do Collages too, you upload the photos and then they'll put the photos on for you. We've got one of the kids and I love it.
A Garden basket sounds like a good idea too, you could put in a gardening journal with seeds, handwash etc....
She sounds awesome too BTW

Our best home made gifts have all been when we have got Daniel to do some artwork. We just got a canvas and got him to paint and had his handprints etc on it. Those gifts have gone down the best by far

What about seeds for flowers that are for Caden & Isabella's birth months? I think a basket incorporating all the little ideas is great. You could top it off with a card (handmade or brought) with something written from you to her telling her how much she means to you. She is obviously a wonderful Nana!
Just thought of another possibility but I'm not sure of the cost. What about if you got Caden to do a paint your own plate (or platter) for her to put her baking on?

Ohh just thought of something else, what about a mosaic? They are really easy and quick to do.. you can buy the kits online, I did two for my parents and the outlaws to put outside... (gecko and a pukeko).
Happy shopping

did you get my text last night ?
make a photobook , with a pic on each page of her and the kids, you and her , etc etc .
But to make it a bit more special, on everypage, write a reason why you love her and why she means so much to you .
You can start by using some of the reasons you told us in your OP
